the two Hunger Games tracks as well (in addition to some beloved leaked songs that could've been vault tracks?). i also believe Ours and Superman never made it to vinyl either, so that's 8 songs more than the standard vinyl. it is annoying that not everything from that album cycle is on there, but i'm a bit utilitarian when it comes to buying vinyl. i don't own the original version of Speak Now, and it makes more sense to have a copy with more songs than one with fewer. don't really care too much about the difference in her voice between versions to go out and buy both, but that's just me. y'all do you.

i also noticed that the overall runtimes between Fearless TV and Speak Now TV differ by less than 2 minutes, despite Fearless having at least 4 more tracks. adding those three songs back to Speak Now would put it just around 112 minutes (Red TV is 130), which wouldn't be overwhelming by any means, but oh well.

If Taylor has a specific vision for the “(Taylor’s Version)” of an album, more power to her. If there are orphaned tracks she wants to re-record and rerelease later, maybe she’ll do a separate rarities thing eventually?

Definitely gonna listen to OG a few times this week. This is an album where I do think her stronger vocals will elevate some of these songs. I didn't think that was the case with the two previous re-records.

Listened to Red (Taylor's Version) recently and I really think most of those versions are demonstrably worse than the originals. Maybe it's just because I love the original so much and have listened to it so many times, but I was getting total uncanny valley vibes on this last playthrough. "Starlight" and (obviously) "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" sounded particularly bad. (I like the Fearless TV less than the original too, but that's more because I think the youthfulness of those songs just works better with her teenaged voice than how she sounds now.) I'll be interested to hear how I feel about the Speak Now re-record, given that this album slots in right between those two.

Yeah, I’m also curious about this one, though from a somewhat different perspective. Fearless TV is still unequivocally better for me, while Red TV’s original album cuts range from lateral move to clear downgrade (“uncanny valley” is right for tracks like “We are Never…”). And, like you said, this is between those two.

I’m also in the minority that puts Speak Now at the bottom of my TS ranking, though, and have for years spent very, very little time with it. So, perhaps a mix of nostalgia and freshness will elevate it for me.

coming from the opposite side here, I much prefer Red and Fearless TV overall to their original counterparts, aside from maybe a song or two here or there (the bigger hits on Red for sure are the low points). but I also was not a fan of Taylor when those albums came out and didn’t become one until shortly before the TV releases, when I met my partner who is a huge fan and they got me into her. Speak Now is easily one of my least favorite Taylor albums, so I am curious to see if I end up liking it more with TV.

1989 and reputation are going to be so weird because they both still feel so recent

I know I speak for all TS fans when I point out how disappointing it was to hear how the bass tone in the original Stay Stay Stay was not replicated well in the TV version :/

Red TV is a big downgrade on the more upbeat tracks.

In general, I think not having Nathan Chapman involved with these has hurt in a lot of little areas like that.

This. While her voice sounds so much stronger in the remakes, I do wish Nathan had been involved to at least help recreate some of the sounds on those albums. I have a feeling this will be different on the records she did with Jack, since he'll be heavily involved again. Also curious what'll end up happening with 1989 and the Max Martin tracks.

If Chapman wasn't willing to come back, she really needed some other experienced country producer who could help recapture what those records sounded like. I'm a little concerned that the team for Speak Now (Taylor's Version) was Jack Antonoff, Aaron Dessner, and Christopher Rowe. I have no problem with any of those guys, but I don't know if they're the right people to remake this album specifically.

Max Martin evidently not being game for this project is going to be a big, big challenge for Reputation.

Just curious…I know Taylor is making bank off these, but do the original producers receive any type or profits from these rereleases?

After the tour and the rereleases she’s going to be close to a billionaire, if not already, right?

  22. VPN trick doesn’t work with these because she doesn’t allow them to come out at midnight local time, right?

  23. Yeah I think it’s a global release, to ensure there’s no leak. Which is also why the physical versions didn’t ship earlier, I’m assuming.

Midnights leaked early tho so…. I think the other Taylor versions have as well

My wife is tremendously excited for tonight. I really am only familiar with the newer 3, 1989, and obviously the mega singles.

However, she loved this album so I’m excited to give it a try. Enchanted was one that hit at the show - didn’t really know it prior and now real into that one
