Really bummed Taylor is doing the David o Russell movie. She was v vocal about her sexual assault trial and then works with someone who publicly admitted to assaulting his Trans niece? I'm disappointed in everyone who works with him and I hate when women get singled out for it more than the men doing the same, but given that I'm a big fan of hers it does hit different and feels v hypocritical and self-centered.

 

there's a chance she didn't know but if people aren't doing their due diligence in the year of the lord 2022 that's not necessarily that much better

 

Yeah I like to think she wouldn't if she knew. I know she's talked a lot about being v aware of what her fans are saying about her online but idk if that extends to having her finger on the pulse of everything else. But sometimes I'm like... that's not even going on in my sphere of the world and I know it. They live in the hollywood/celeb sphere and I like giving the benefit of the doubt but man his controversies are on the first page of results when I google his name, and him yelling at lily tomlin was also a suggested search but idk if thats suggested based off my seach history. But are we really not out here in 2022 doing a basic Google search on white male movie directors tho? If not we should maybe

 

Yeah, I feel v uneasy about her working w/this guy. I cannot imagine she and/or her team not doing their research before agreeing to do this movie.

He is clearly a monster and working w/him is gross.

Tbh im becoming hip to these merch releases. I used to get excited and impulse buy it, but the quality is so questionable on everything I've bought. A shirt of hers still dyes my skin after washing it multiple times.

I would buy a tote bag or cup with the album art, I won't buy merch with her birth year that she somehow trademarked

It sucks that none of that is the seagull shirt from the 1989 cover. I assume they'll change that for Taylor's Version, but I loved that design. That bleh tone of blue does nothing for me.

 

this is absolutely a pipe dream, but rather than stagnate the releases, what if she dropped both on the same day? that'd bring in a ton of sales/streams, and could keep fans satisfied for quite some time. it's probably not gonna happen, but if she ever decided to do it, i wouldn't be surprised.

 

No inside knowledge, but i believe that would never happen with those two specific records because of how beloved 1989 is. They'd cannibalize each others' sales.

I could see her pairing her debut with a more popular record and position it as a single album on streaming services. Not Speak Now and 1989 though.
