I wouldn’t actually compare those two albums that much. I can see why it’s there, but it’s not that prevalent to me.
Yeah, this doesn't sound much like the Lorde record to me. Granted I haven't listened to that in about five months, but still.
This is fine. Don't love it, don't hate it. Can see myself going back to a few songs. Sounds nothing like Melodrama to me. But that's probably my favorite of the year, so I might be a bit biased.
OK, definitely an up and down album, actually kinda surprised that there was less variation on the theme, I'd call this her most similar musically throughout. Early favorites of the new ones are definitely Get Away Car, Dancing With Our Hands Tied, New Years Day and End Game (sorry!!!!!). I am guessing the first 3 everyone agrees on, based on this thread previously. Now I'm gonna go try to catch up on this thread! All in all, I really do think this is a solid album, I was worried for a while but it came out good overall
Excited to jam this after work with a couple beers and a copious amount of snacks. Interesting takes, I will probably really enjoy it as I've loved all the singles so far. Having a new T Swift on my album makes me happy
I’ve listened to this three times today and it’s been better every time. There are still more misses here than on her last few albums, but I’m starting to really get into a lot of the songs I thought were just fine on first listen. Looking forward to it growing on me even more. As for quality of this year in music, I always think more favorably of any year a few months after it’s over. I was disappointed with 2016 during most of the year, but I think it was solid after having more time for some of those records to sink in. This year is probably better than 2016, though it’ll be hard to top 2015 for me.
Is iTunes the only digital store selling this? I can't find it on Amazon or Googleplay. Seems kinda silly that a digital download of it is $14. I'll just go to best buy tomorrow and get the physical for $12.
People did hype this album up like she was gonna take no prisoners and "let the games begin" and stans were freaking out that she cleared her throat at the beginning like she was gonna spill it all. And she did not. Which is fine. And I guess realistically I don't expect her to really go there. But it makes her image this era all the more... tepid. Like sis ur acting like you're doing THAT. But you're just kinda sorta maybe doing it a lil.
