“Delicate”, “Getaway Car”, “Call it What You Want”, “Dress”, and “New Years Day” are the highlights.

I feel like a lot of the songs are suffocating.

"Getaway Car" is so fucking good. I might like that more than anything on 1989.

I'm like 6 songs in and I actually like a lot of the production and sounds she's playing with, I just don't think the songs are very good. They're mostly just whatever with a really bad or really good moment sprinkled in every now and then.

Man, a 10-song version of this would have fucking ripped.

  6. Folks, should we tell Craig he can make one?

I'm over halfway through now. So far it's fine.

I probably will, but that's not the album she made.

  10. So? If you think you'd like an album more without some songs, why not listen to what you'd like?

Yeah, this is fine. It's passable. It's not something I'm really interested in spending a lot of time with, but it's alright. I think a lot of the hyperbole surrounding the record is much worse than the record itself.

I think the best (chorus of "Ready for It") and worst (verses of "Ready for It") moments on the album happen at the beginning and then the rest is pretty steadily fine. There's no full song on here that I disliked but there's also nothing I really want to listen to again either. I think "New Year's Day" was probably my favourite and even that was unremarkable. Too bad.

  13. Have you really liked an album this year? I remember us talking about this earlier and you were so let down with all the albums out this year ... curious if you found any you've fallen for since then?

I really like the Paramore album, that's probably my favourite this year. John Mayer might be my number 2 which says a lot considering I think it's easily his worst. I liked the new Manchester Orchestra and Circa Survive albums a good amount too but yeah I haven't found much that I've really been into this year. I haven't spent too much time with music this year though, I've heard maybe 45 albums which is way less than the last few years and the majority of my favourite musicians haven't put anything out so I guess it's just an off year for me.

  17. Man, that bums me out. This has been my favorite year for music in maybe a decade.

Haha, yeah I've seen a ton of people talking about how great this year is and it's probably the worst I've ever had musically. It's strange. I've had a great year for pretty much every other kind of media though so it's not too bad. Hopefully I'll click with more stuff next year.

Holy hell, yeah, I'm in the process of compiling potential records for my EOTY list and it's tough getting it down to 50.

Yeah the past few years I've usually come out with a top 30 or so that I really love, this year I could probably make a good top 10 that I really like, ha. I'm trying to catch up on some of the stuff I've missed at the moment and I'll hopefully pick up some stuff from end of year lists too.

The only bad thing about this year is so much has come out that I feel like I don't even have time to appreciate everything.

i’ve been meaning to tell you

I like this a lot more than I thought I would. Not a fan of End Game but other than that I enjoy everything else well enough. This is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things is the Taylor Swiftiest song on here, in the vein of WANGBT/Bad Blood. Love Delicate and Getaway Car. New Years Day was kinda underwhelming as a closer for me.

  25. I'll listen to this as soon as I can - don't really have much alone time at the moment. I love 1989, not a huge fan of the singles from this but they'll be different in context I'm sure
