I could see enjoying the magazines if ur a collector but I have always been much more intrigued by the special Target bonus songs than any magazines or Polaroids or anything. To buy multiple of the same thing when you can just buy one doesn't make sense to me. Especially when I know it's just designed to get me to buy more of it and give them more money when I don't need the item and they certainly don't need the money. Maaaaybe for an indie band maaaaybe if the incentive was enough. But not this time, capitalism!!!!

 

@Kiana See for me, I can get bonus tracks online any day, so there is no personal reason for me to get retail deluxe versions. I can't download a magazine or polaroid (the 1989 polaroids are still on my office wall!), so I dig that a bit more

 

I guess I just don't care about having pictures of someone when I can Google a billion of them online if for some reason I want to see their face, vs I love popping in a nice deluxe edition album in my car when I buy them. But diff things are def worth it to diff people! I'm def not a collector like that.

 

Taylor won the CMA Award for Song of the Year tonight. Wasn't there to accept it, apparently.

 

I did buy two copies of xtina's lotus, but that was an accident. When I realized I figured I'd just let her have it so she could get her first week sales at least to the double digits

I also have two copies of OK Computer cause my dad is adorable and thought he was buying me the deluxe awesome vinyl package but it was the standard album I already own. But it was a cute gesture and is now sentimental!

 

I have two copies of Maroon 5's Songs About Jane because I forgot I already had it

but yeah she should do Target bonus tracks especially considering New Romantics is a Target bonus track

I really wonder how her country fanbase has felt about 1989 and now reputation

 

My little sister likes 1989 but is with me in thinking all the new singles are steps backwards in quality

 

Most country fans I know prefer her old stuff but don't seem to mind her now. They don't actively seek her out anymore, but def not like outrage sell out, how dare she. Prob doesn't hurt that she transitioned to pop extremely quickly and it was never a shocking route for her.

The state of country is better than the current pop-punk crop at least. Haha

Most country purists already thought Taylor Swift wasn't "real country" during the self-titled/Fearless days. But yeah, this is exactly how those people act in general. Anything with a hint of pop influence is shit, apparently.

Figured it was something to do with her album release.

Glad we are getting 4 more Jack songs, obviously most excited for those.

That makes it 9 Max Martin/Shellback songs and 6 Jack Antonoff songs.

 

Max Martin is obviously a legend but I'm mostly looking forward to the Jack songs

 

Kind of interesting that Antonoff's songs are largely separated as the last four tracks

 

Jack as the in demand pop producer this year, Lorde and St Vincent too, is so wild

 

Dude's got a great ear and is willing to try things that probably shouldn't work in traditional pop music, but he and the artists he works with pull it off somehow. For example, that chord change from the verses to the pre-choruses of "Green Light" is so weird but somehow it works perfectly for that song. I'm excited to see what he does with his songs on this record.

 

Honestly surprised this hasn't leaked, people have taken photos of the CD since two days ago so one was bound to be stolen, guess not!
