  2. Eh, she'll do a million without streaming. I expect the windowing strategy again to boost sales #s.

It's like there's nothing wrong with pop music like that ya know, it's escapism it's fun and all that, but with the way the country and world are in these times I personally don't have much use for that kind of pop music or music in general (not across the board but generally speaking). I find myself wanting something more from music, music that has something to say and has a real purpose and importance in the context of the state of things. So the stuff that's a little more shallow is almost glaringly so under a country being run by someone like Trump. That's just my perspective though and not the case for ALL music but yeah

    I'm not brave Prestigious

I definitely agree with this. I still enjoy some vapid pop songs but it does feel like this is a time when artistry with something more to say is that much more essential.

I get what y’all are saying and agree, but like putting on valid music and dancing and acting dumb is a pretty great way to forget about the dumpster fire for a few minutes and I think it’s dangerous to not find value in the self care of that side of “vapid” pop.

I always see pop as escapism, not that escapism can't be political or tied to the real world

Oh there's value in it and it has its place but that kind of music also isn't what's truly gripping me, I listen to escapist music still obviously but it's also not the stuff I'm constantly returning to and finding to be essential to my listening and a big part of that is the current social and political climate

Entertainment itself is largely escapism but also like you said it's often tied to the political or the real world

Keep in mind that the streams accumulated so far for the 4 singles will count towards first week sales, even if the full album isn't available. That's like 400,000,000 streams.

Isn't that kind of fucked up though? I know huge singles always boost the "album sales" through streaming but if the majority of the album isn't available to stream, that shouldn't count as an "album sale". Just singles.

    all we have is time

How great would that be though? And remember this interview with Adam Duritz from 2015:

“My friend Chris Carrabba, from Dashboard Confessional, he moved to Nashville and I guess he’s done some writing with Taylor Swift. He wanted me to come down and sit with him and her and do some writing. I’m not really big on planning ahead on stuff, but I would do anything with Chris. I love the guy, he’s great. I love his music.“

I understand that I just think it's weird in a few certain circumstances. Like when the Fast and Furious soundtrack beat out Future Hearts for number 1 on the charts because it had one massive single

I agree that it's pretty insane that previous single sales get to work towards first week sales. It's why so many major albums get an old single (Hotline Bling as a "bonus" track to Views) tacked on

There’s such a thing as good “vapid” pop though, this just isn’t it.

I would love it. I think Chris's writing style really meshes well with Taylor's pre-1989 style. I hope they do work together eventually. I just doubt it's happening on this record, based on the style we've heard so far.

I think it's safe to say the track list is real, as her lawyers sent a takedown notice for the image
