I'm just not that excited about the direction, I guess. It seems like we're getting 1989 part two, which is fine, but not really what I was hoping for.

 

Tbh that song feels more like an interlude than a single. Similar vocal melody throughout without much change of pace... feels like it's taking me from Point A to Point B.

 

She played Shake It Off like a week after it came out at the VMAs, she's definitely doing less traditional promo

 

It's ridiculous how lightly people are throwing around Nazi and making references towards her. Like I wish she'd speak out more too but that is not okay and not the way. Like I've seen ppl replace the S in her name with a swastika and idk it just seems to be used so lightly as a joke. There are ways to point out her lack of speaking out in ways that aren't... That

 

Seems like a lot of money for lawyers when you could tweet "nazis are bad" though. (The ACLU has a pretty good case here for speech protection.)

 

Idk man, I think there's no place for this cowardly bullshit in today's climate. If you're against it, speak out. If you're silent, you're complicit.

 

I've never been a big fan of people demanding people make statements online about things; I think that's a little weird and people have done it to me over things I have nothing to do with. But if a portion of the internet was using me as a symbol for hate speech, I'd be going against them for defamation and would definitely speak out about it. A lot a lot.

 

Idk man, there has to be a better use for the biggest voice in music than to warm up a 2 year old feud with a reality TV family.

 

Yeah people are so extra and there's no nuance, like we need a problematic scale, not excusing her cultural appropriation and I wish she was more involved too but her Love Story era clearly was not intentionally Aryan

I mean I wish she would speak out more cause it'd be awesome. But I also don't think she should be referred to as a Nazi or white supremacist for choosing not to, and I don't want a statement that's forced out of her to appease people either. I think she's maybe greedy or cowardly at best but to compare her to Hitler and stuff which articles have done, is just ridic. It's so weird cause I feel like her press is overwhelmingly positive for the most part like in general, but when certain outlets decide to go in on her they go in such over the top ways. I think she can and should be criticized for certain things and the way she has used her whiteness to benefit and position herself in the industry but I don't think it's necessary to call her a Nazi or put swastikas in her name. For the record I am speaking generally. I did not read the article or blog post her lawyers sent the letter about.
