Sooooo this album is lining up to be another mega-smash, possible record breaker Pre-orders for new Swift album reach more than 400,000 units pre-orders for “reputation,” to be released Nov. 10, are double the number of pre-orders for Swift’s “1989” album a week before its release in 2014.
I expect sales to be high, but it may have to do with the whole having to pre-order the album and buy merch to get further in line for tickets thing they're doing. Not sure if they'd ever release the metrics behind that. Very interested to see how the marketing pays off with that, and if we'll see a similar strategy for other artists in the future.
What does any of this have to do with money? Money can't just make "great" if you're not a fan of the writing. She's already working with the A-list pop writers/producers. (I also very much disagree with your comments, but I'm just curious what you meant by that..)
Sometimes I think I may stan some artists and then I see actual stans like Taylor's having meltdowns and thinking she's their bff and I'm like... Ok maybe I don't stan anyone lol. Too much energy.
I could never stan someone, first of all as I've said before I could never do stan wars I love everyone, also no one is flawfree I do sometimes wish I was really into a particular artist but maybe it's better not to have a fave idk
Musically I like the two newest the most, but lyrically they are...I don’t know, a little clunky? She’s trying to fit a lot into each line, and it doesn’t flow that well. Idk this has probably been discussed
I am def into certain artists and I'll go thru phases where I get stuck on them for a while and listen non-stop and bring them up a lot and I'm like wow I am obsessed, is this stanning?? And then I'll see some true stans at work like these ones who are calling and harassing record store employees on their faves behalf and I'm like.... No, I am truly not haha.
Yeah she was really going for the one liners on this one and it just doesn't work very well. Music isn't bad though, really like the overall production
I'm sorry Taylor, but Norma Jean made a better song about bringing a knife to a gunfight a decade ago.
It's surreal that we get a new Taylor Swift album this week and even more surreal that I feel so apathetic about it. It's weird, because I like most of the songs we've heard so far. I just don't have the anticipation for this that I did for Speak Now, Red, or 1989. I hope it's a big pleasant surprise.
Based on the singles it seems like it's not gonna have as much stylistic growth as any of her other albums which is what's making me less excited/not very excited at all
Things I didn't expect to see today: Norma Jean references in a Taylor Swift thread. Thank you very much!
Do you think it's because she herself has been so quiet? I wasn't a fan before 1989 so I don't know how much promotion she normally does in the lead up but I don't feel like I know anything about this album aside from its release date so it's hard to be excited.
So far I've enjoyed each single more than the one that came before it. The only one I've loved is "Call It What You Want," but even that probably won't be a favorite of mine. I'm excited to hear the whole thing and I think she will go deeper or have more emotional songs in the deep cuts but my expectations are adjusted.
