It's obviously impossible to agree completely with a 115-item list, and I know that lots of the writing was jokey, but some of those Best Line choices were awful
Dear John will always have a special place in my heart because it upset John Mayer. Also, she completely nailed what being in a relationship with a man like that is like. Anything else about the song aside, it's a fantastic lyric.

"Dear John" is perfect. Such a great melody, and such perfect aping of his sound. It's her best "diss track" by a mile.
damn, i don't even know how i'd go about making a list like that... best to worst... i feel like i'd have to break it up into LOVE/LIKE/DISLIKE/HATE, and then just slap it together like that, haha.
Rob Sheffield is great top 10 of the list is v good imo she's such a divisive artist (while still being the huge pop star) that any list would get ppl riled up one way or another
I don't think I could actually make this list. Maybe a top 10 or 20 - after that it would feel like choosing between my children.
Any list that doesn't have "Holy Ground" in top 10 is wrong. I love a ton of her stuff from the beginning till now, but that was the first time I went okay this is no longer a guilty pleasure. Therefore I like robs list. Also love That he has bad blood last I do also not understand the love for "New Romantics". The chorus is grating imo. I hate the melody. "Baby were the New Romantics..." uhg
See, I was going to like your post. But then you dissed "New Romantics" (aka Tay Tay writes a Passion Pit song) and I had to take it back.
I'll just say that 95% of the time, I do not enjoy her ballads, I don't know why. But that gives you an idea.
I come into this thread to see ppl disliking Dear John smh. I don't personally relate to a lot of her music. I think of it more like a fairytale or a fictional story that is mostly enjoyable but that I don't necessarily find relatable to my own life. I just think we process things differently so while I find her lyrics very wistful and fun to get lost in, I'm not like yas she gets me. Except the masterpiece that is Dear John where sis just GETS IT.
These 2 songs are absolutely not "lyrically sharper" or more "emotionally complex" than almost anything from her last 3 albums, so that gives me hope that the ray of the album will be better.
I bet RS was saying that about just the two songs we've heard. I bet no one else has listened to anything else from it yet. But either way, I reeeeeally hope the rest of the songs from here on out or good because I'm not a fan of what she's put out yet from this album...
I still really love the production for Ready For It but think it doesn't suit her well at all. Someone else over that same production could be dope. That's kind of my whole problem with the two songs so far, she's trying to go into lanes that don't suit her talents as well as what she did before imo
