Welcome to NY, Shake it off and Bad Blood are three of the four best tracks on 1989, and all would make my top 10 of her songs.
Welcome to NY is weird cuz it really is bad but I fucking love it, one of my favorite driving songs of recent memory. I won't stand for Shake it Off hate, it's a goddang perfect pop song.
I hated Shake It Off and Bad Blood at first but eventually band-aids don't fix bullet holes gets in your head and you don't even know how it happened
Very bold statement haha! That's why I love debating music what might be lower in some people's minds is actually higher in others.
I will never understand the negative stigma of trademarking things like that. She literally has to. If she doesn't, thousands of t shirt companies will print her phrase out and make money off it.
Cut Out of the Woods and This Love and you have a nearly flawless album front to back (don't love Welcome to NY, but I can deal with it as the opener)
Stay Stay Stay is such a fun song. I've never seen it as a highlight but it's cute and works well in context.
I guess it's just me. I can't stand it. It makes me feel the way I feel listening to Our Last Night cover Humble. It just ruins the flow of an otherwise perfect album. This all reminds me, though. I have never listened to Fearless all the way through.
Yeah I think she has a lot of worse songs than "Stay Stay Stay". I think "Out of the Woods" is a good song too though although it's definitely in the lower half of 1989 for me, "This Love" is great though.
There are three tracks I'd cut from Red, but that isn't one of 'em. and this is probably at odds with the general consensus here, but I don't really like Fearless. The title track and Love Story are great, other than that....ehhh. I don't think she made a great full album until Speak Now.
This Love is such a snooze to me, I don't hate it and won't complain if it's on but I just prefer to skip it
She also doesn't have an album without some sort of filler haha, but most of the material is so good that I don't mind that much.
it's just remarkable just how brand-oriented she is, don't necessarily fault her it's kinda impressive
