Wow. That video is something. I appreciate the crazy factor and the call backs were fun. Not completely into the whole song and attitude behind it but I think it's getting judged a little too harshly and that it will age well ala "Shake It Off."
The video is what I wanted from the song itself. As a standalone, the song still comes across too genuine and thus kind of embarrassing. Still like it though
gonna go as far as saying this is the most impressed i've been with a taylor swift song since... mean. Instantly caught my attention...was 100% stuck in my head all weekend...and yes. Also, im so happy youtube has saved the music video platform
I don't think I've hated a song more this year. I detest everything it represents. With that said, I've listened to it like ten times lol. I genuinely think it's so bad it's good.
Oh god, I'm already tired of the "What happened to Taylor Swift?" thinkpieces. The Ringer has like six articles right now about how much they hate this song/video/her in general. Like, it's fine not to dig it. I don't like the song either. But say it once and move on. Don't just keep milking it for clicks. But The Ringer just kind of sucks in general, so...
video is so great. feel like the song in general would have been more well received if she'd released it with video from the get go
Prediction: by the end of this album cycle, most publications will laud her for taking control of the narrative.
I'm not hearing what's so bad about the song though. We get so much similar sounding stuff these days....the radio is littered with songs that I have absolutely no idea who sings them and I immediately forget the song as soon as it ends. That getting something like this is actually quite fun. The chorus is banging.
yeah the tongue in cheek vibe of the video would've made the song easier to digest from the beginning. I like the song now, didnt like it at all on the immediate release.
Rumor has it that Target won't have a deluxe version of the album with bonus tracks and such. They only have Target-Exclusive magazines that the CD will come in.
really shitty sound design, the drums are stock as fuck the pre chorus clap is one of the worst sounding claps ive ever heard. formulaic structure which sure its pop music so whatever, but the chorus falls flat on its face, the verses are really bad vocally imo, so is the bridge, i honestly dont like anything about it. production and songwriting are both mediocre at best and really bad at worst.
i also dont listen to the radio so im not comparing it to other songs on the radio, im judging the song on its own
ah well then i guess that's fine. I'm totally judging this against its peers (radio songs/pop songs). For me, when it comes to pop, I want memorable...semi-unique..and does it catch my interest..and this song 100% did. And the fact that SO MANY people are talking about it is interesting. I dont hear many people talking about the new Pink song (as they shouldnt) And yes all of my comments are based on other pop music. I dig the early 90s drum sound of the chorus.
22 million views right now, putting it already in 5th place ever for most watched youtube video in 24 hours. If it can get to 39 million, it will be the most watched ever in 24 hours
