When I was younger I just had to be there for the opener but now i usually skip it. Mostly cause I barely make it on time with my work schedule so I have to miss the opener. But often I don't care for the opener anyway.
I do feel like Camila is perfect for this sort of gig, Taylor's fans know her and she'll get people hyped but she also won't upstage Taylor
not too stoked on Camilla, but I'll have to check out more of her stuff than that annoying Havana song. Been really into Charli ever since she featured Carly Rae Jepsen.
"Delicate" announced as the next single, video out in a week. Feel like this is her last chance to salvage the narrative of this album cycle. It's a definite jam, I'm sure the label will be pushing it hard. If she can make it a summer radio staple she pulls out the win.
Still not sure how it wasn’t: Album announced single: I Did Something Bad Two weeks out hype single: End Game 3rd: Getaway Car 4th: Delicate 5th: Dancing With Our Hands Tied Admittedly, 5th is huge personal preference and like six songs on the album could’ve fallen into that weird fifth single slot she has had in every album cycle.
I wouldn't expect it at all honestly, it just doesn't seem that marketing an PR is a huge aspect of this rollout. I expect the same as the last few singles. A few posts leading up to the video, then it drops, then silence for a while til her tour
IMO "I Did Something Bad" would have never worked as the leadoff statement single. The chorus is too laughable. I get what you're saying, but I think they want a win here. I imagine she does it least one tv performance and interview to push it, and the label's going to spend a lot of money to get it played.
I agree it's laughable she was able to make a chorus that good. Like what? lol who has that kind of talent.
LWYMMD's chorus is way more of an earworm, and also works much better as a thematic set-up to her album. It is good chorus! It also made me laugh out loud the first ten times I heard the way she yells "I did something BAY-AD!" I like this album a lot, idk if that's clear.
LWYMMD was a perfect shock single, it got a shit ton of press, everyone was talking about it, it did exactly what it was supposed to. I Did Something Bad is a better song by most measures, but it's not as much of a WOW/WTF/OMG and wouldn't have been as successful at getting the internet talking.
I just can’t help but feel she doesn’t care about promo for this album at all. I think she’s testing being able to be a hermit and still make millions. I don’t think she’ll ever go back to being as open and out there as she was for 1989.
It's totally the theme of the whole era, and honestly I like it. It's testing what happens if a mega-star takes her insanely public life and makes it private. It's themed to the album theme of reputation, press, publicity, public persona, etc.
While I kind of agree with what you’re saying, I feel like the actual album didn’t talk much about that stuff other than a few songs
I actually do agree haha, but the idea was out there, and it was obvious the theme even if the lyrics didn't quite touch on it overall. Kinda a bait and switch, but I still get the overall theme she went with for this era
