I have heard that requiring credit card u purchased with doesn't stop all scalpers but surely it cuts down on it a lot? Idk is there anything that will totally eliminate them? Aside from everyone stop buying scalped tickets

 

Definitely cuts down a ton. They can only sell the tickets if they get the purchaser to meet up with them physically at the box office an hour or so before the show

 

Is there a reason more artists don't do that? I guess it may be difficult if ur buying tickets as a gift but other than that it seems like a good plan

 

In Italy they legit print your name on tickets and I had to have my passport with me to verify identity to get into the soccer stadium. Could be a method that helps cut down too

 

First time I saw it implemented was for Lana Del Rey at a 1k cap venue and it took like an hour to get all those people in so I imagine it would be much harder at 20k cap arenas, sadly

 

I've also seen will call only shows but with that and the credit card thing too I guess you're fucked if you can't make the show

 

When I saw modest mouse all they had to do was scan something and it was super quick! But I guess that would be a pain if there's a zillion times the people lol

Most special/small/exclusive shows around here require to be will call only, with original credit card

For Taylor, especially this tour, you KNOW that a huge percentage of sales are gifts for other people, if this tour required credit card and/or will call, it would really fuck up basically everything, it's just not realistic

 

I wish someone bought me concert tickets as a gift

those US prices are insane...are tickets normally more expensive for you guys or is this just a taylor thing? we didnt have the ticketmaster fan thing and tickets are £60 - 140

That's not the only way. They will also buy tickets online using Visa gift cards and then mail the gift card to the purchaser. This happens wayyy more than meeting the purchaser at the venue.

After trying (but not succeeding) at buying Elton John tickets today, I have a newfound appreciation for Taylor's system. It was sooo nice to be able to just log in and take my time selecting tickets. I signed up for Elton's verified fan stuff, but got wait listed, and getting actual tickets was impossible. The boosting was annoying, but I'd do it again if it means getting tickets at a reasonable price in good seats.
