"Delicate" was alright. Now I'm on LWYMMD and yeah, still hate this song. "Don't Blame Me" has been the only stand-out for me so far.
Really like Dancing With Our Hands Tied (probably my favorite) into Dress, and I Did Something Bad. I get my End Game could be the "big one" or whatever, but the guest vocals are pretty meh to me. Still don't like LWYMMD either. My biggest qualm is the random, unnecessary autotune...just, why?? and I echo that I wish she'd kept a few more guitars around, but it's not like I expected her to.
Understandable. "So It Goes..." was okay. I'm on "Gorgeous" and yeah, still not into this song even in the context of the album.
Update- The stretch between Getaway Car and DWOHT is gold. Had to stop after that because shit hit the fan at work
reputation VINYL with Free Sticker Picture discs are up. I'm torn cus I want it but I'd rather a standard pressing, but I also kind of want the picture disc as a collectors item, but $40 + shipping is a lot.
Gorgeous and New Years Day are my favorites after first listen, but might just have been having heard both those songs before. Second half definitely seemed better than the first half though.
I'm not sure if this is an unpopular opinion, but I think the backhalf of this record is much stronger. Nothing against the first half, just think the second half is nearly perfect.
Her vocals have improved a lot but they weren't great at first so she's increased the ability to like... Ok good you can sing ok and ur a singer so that's good that u can do ur job adequately. I'm super articulate. Any1 hiring album reviewers??
I already said you should write the chorus.fm review. Also on her voice, I always viewed her kinda as a pop-punk vocalist like... oh not really a “voice” but can inflect and sing in key.
I think she’s been more than okay for a pretty long time, personally. Lots of great vocals on the three records before this one, too.
You easily write my favorite posts of chorus.fm, so that's enough for me to want to read a review of yours ha
big fan of taylors music in general but the concept of anyone trying to claim she is anything more than an average vocalist is just baffling to me
i mean i agree she can carry a tune but to me the appeal of taylor isn't necessarily in her vocal ability
I like the way her voice sounds, plain and simple. Classically trained, or specific abilities, who cares. Over half the vocalists I listen to wouldn't pass a "universally praised great vocalist" test
This thread is making me feel a lot better about my ok singing. If taylor can get away with average, so can I!
She's definitely a better songwriter but she's really good at writing songs I think her voice works for her music, she isn't writing Demi or Ariana songs she doesn't need their voice
yeah that essentially what i think. shes obviously not in their vocal range but she has so many other qualities that make her a great popstar.
