The 3-4 upbeat poppies are 10/10. It’s the deeper cuts that are starting to fade into one congealed melange of OK Swift.
i feel like we might disagree on what the best songs are but 'congealed melange of OK Swift' is hella accurate for the less good half of the album. (still a better half than the bad halves of Rep and Lover)
Tbh I didn't like bejeweled at first but it's growing on me after hearing it on social media and stuff so much.
I actually enjoy the version of "Anti-Hero" WITH Bleachers as opposed to the original one. Maybe it's because it gets rid of the sexy baby line (I think?) that I hated in the original.
What in the world are these lyrics lol “Sometimes I feel like everyone is an art bro lately, and I just judge them on a hill. Too hard to hang out, just talking shit about your famous baby. Pierce through the heart of 90s guilt”
It’s a testament to how bad the sexy baby line is that those lyrics above are better lol. This version sucks though outside it being nice to hear jack get a real feature on a Taylor song (again?)
Okay but the sexy baby line is weird but I mean it makes sense. Sexualized baby voices in pop is/was a thing, women encouraged to focus on youth and making themselves smaller, etc etc. Then you have taylor who prob feels like a monster giant since she's tall and has body dysmorphia. It's why imo she hung out with the victorias secret angels so much during 1989 because she probably felt she blended in more with the tall models. But then she's also like an inescapable giant metaphorically and she's talked about how she knows people get fatigued and tired of her in the general public so she always has this voice of knowing people want her to go away and get sick of her but she always comes back. it has LAYERS OK. It's not a lyrical triumph but I also feel like it's fine.
