ohhhhhh yeah. I’ve seen people talk about doing it on Twitter when chart projections start coming in and they’re a little low.
I wish they could weigh album sales differently than album streams. Might lead someone to think streaming an artist incessantly actually does any good in the long run. If the google search I ran is accurate, it would take 4,000 streams to net $20. Spotify takes 30%, so $14 left for record label and band. So listening for 266 hours on streaming might amount to the artist getting $5-10. Insane stuff.
I did lol at jack just has a quirky personality and resting silly face. He's just quirky guyz I know it's like the pot calling the kettle black but people are so weird.about celebrities
I could see the case for all her other aoty wins, but midnights wasn't it. I believed her surprised reaction on this one was legit lol
Quoting myself here, because well... because of looking into other things, I went down a rabbit hole, and found this post of mine from when Midnights was released to be.... well, correct in a lot of ways. OK so still with me for those who care. Aaron did the Broken Record podcast about a year ago, and deep in the middle of it let out some information that is VERY interesting to me. July 20, 2020: folklore released December 11, 2020: evermore released March 14, 2021: Grammy awards where folklore won a bunch of stuff. Aaron said on the podcast that while he was in town for the Grammys, he holed up at Taylor's house where they wrote and recorded Would've, Could've, Should've, The Great War and High Infidelity. He also mentions there were more song ideas he was giving to her, etc, but those 4 songs were absolutely done. November/December 2021: Margaret Qualley & Joe Alwyn are away shooting "Stars at Noon" together, this is confirmed to be when Taylor and Jack basically lived together and created Midnights. In the podcast with Aaron, he mentions that she basically made "all of midnights with Jack" and "it became something different" which I find to be a very interesting choice of words. Like I had maybe thought in my quoted post above, I definitely wonder if those songs they created during the Grammys were building toward an album that never materialized because her and Jack made Midnights. Podcast here, section from 21 to 29 minutes, mostly the latter part of that section
well said. I bought the cd from target and I thought the same thing that it could’ve been on lover that song is so fucking good too
I’m vacationing in Japan and found this in tower records. First time I’ve ever seen a physical copy of the late night version
Will never claim this one is great beginning to end and it is maybe short on pantheon level taylor songs but man the stuff I like on it always hits for me when I go back to it. The best 10 songs from across the versions is an elite taylor record
Lavender Haze Maroon Anti-Hero You're On Your Own, Kid Midnight Rain Karma Bejeweled Would've, Could've, Should've Sweet Nothing Mastermind could definitely hear an argument for Bigger Than the Whole Sky, You're Losing Me (if it counts), or Snow on the Beach but I think the above 10 is all killer no filler
I've finally been spending some time with the bonus tracks from this and they're so good. I think "Hits Different" is the best song from this whole era, with "Dear Reader", "Paris", "Would've, Could've, Should've" and "You're Losing Me" all up there too.
