We’re in town and I’m already fretting about even taking public transportation tomorrow. Plan is to hop the red line to Roosevelt and walk….but I’m really worried about how long it’s going to take to get back to the hotel after the show let’s out.
If this is what downtown Chicago looks like at 3 pm on a Thursday just imagine tomorrow night and 2 concerts going on right next to each other. It’s gonna be 10 times worse. Plan accordingly I can’t stress it enough. As Someone who lives here and has taken lake shore drive on a Friday during heavy traffic times it is no joke, you will be stuck if you leave too late. If you can take metra or the l take those and walk
Also there will be additional road closures stating tomorrow to help start setting up for the nascar race in July. So yeah it’s gonna be even worse
I honestly don't think public transportation will be any worse than most solider field shows. Plenty of people will be driving/staying downtown/etc. But I'm also planning on taking the Roosevelt stop. Hoping most people take Red and I'll be able to get on Green with relative ease. At least there are other options here, unlike Phoenix where I was literally stranded for hours because it was impossible to get any ubers or anything
That’s a fair point. I’ve done New Year’s Eve in Chicago a couple of times and that’s also been a nightmare even with the el. Hopefully it’s no big deal but yea thank god for public transportation.
I think tomorrow will be worse just due to there being a 2nd concert.(the northerly island show is using the full setup and it’s sold out so that’s 30k or so) You’re gonna have 100k people or so all leaving and arriving at the same time. It’s gonna be a cluster fuck. I think public transportation will be packed more then normal even with them running extra busses and trains
There was only about 20 minutes between PB and TS this weekend so my advice would be to mad dash it to the bathroom as Muna is finishing up. Might not be an issue for guys, but some of the Men’s rooms definitely got overtaken by women in NJ. So just a heads up! (Can we just have gender neutral bathrooms now omg) Also if anyone wants to know which 2 songs will play right before she goes on I can post it but I don’t know if that counts as a spoiler lol
Going on Sunday. Parking by the Clark/Lake train station and gonna take residential roads home to Lincoln Square. Not gonna touch LSD or the highways.
what an absolute shit show again. there's over 20k people in line for 2 of the nights and over 30k for the last one
I've basically "gotten into" Taylor because of this thread. With the hype here from back before Midnights dropped I checked out the album and it really clicked for me. Fast forward to the Eras tour hype, and now I wish I would have went to one of the ATL shows just at least for the spectacle of it and to be apart of it. I've went back and listened to in full: Fearless, Red, and Speak Now so far and enjoyed them for sure. I've got 1989, Reputation, and Lover to listen to next. After that Folklore and Evermore. Then its the two Taylor's versions. I enjoyed Red and Speak Now a lot. Fearless was good too, but veered a bit toward "teen girl" country pop vibe maybe? Especially since I didn't connect with that album as a younger person naturally and am now just experiencing it as a mid to late 30 year old. It's been a couple of weeks since I've listen to those 3 albums. One reason why I may not listen to her debut soon. I'll get to it at some point I suppose. It's practically Summer now in the deep south and a lot of these older songs take me back to a more whimsical time down here in the "country" / small town where I'm at. Such an absolutely good songwriter. Hits Different is a winner.
at 1:43 of this pod, talk about the cultural phenomenon of this tour. interesting stuff. The NBA’s Almost Club, Denver-Miami Picks and Taylor Swift’s Iconic Year with Joe House, Raheem Palmer, Nathan Hubbard and Chuck Mindenhall
Welcome. The highs of debut are still highs of her career, in a special way. To think a 14-15 year old wrote Our Song and Tim McGraw is crazy.
We booked it to the el 90% through Karma. Got there and the power was down lol. Luckily only for a few minutes. Already back at the hotel with food. Absolutely incredible show. Pride speech was awesome and the crowd gave her an ear throbbing ovation after the song that followed the speech (forget what song it was). edit: it was champagne problems
