It's a music video. The fact that people thought she was going to get an Oscar for it is legitimately funny, regardless of quality. It's just totally not in the orbit of what that category honors.
It's weird when people say "snubbed" just because something isn't nominated. It's like when ppl say Reputation was snubbed. I'm sry I like that album a lot but I don't consider it a snub either. Not everything she does needs or deserves a nomination. I guess I consider a snub something more egregious Edit: now snub no longer sounds like a word lol
Beyoncé not getting AOTY for Lemonade over Adele is a snub, Kendrick not winning over Macklemore is a snub. Taylor not getting nominated for a music video is not a snub.
Most of these things are not snubs! They are just examples of awards not lining up with what people want to have happen. Like, honestly, anyone who thought any album other than Adele 25 was winning album of the year that year had their head in the fucking clouds. There was no way in hell the Grammys weren't giving that award to the album that sold 3.38 million copies in a week. Ditto with 1989 beating TPAB. Commercial juggernauts on that level don't come around very often, and they usually win the Grammy when they do.
