If listening to “Hold On” by Wilson Phillips is considered a punishment, I’d be in Honors Detention, proudly. That song fucking rules.
I only use Spotify when I'm playing music on the home sound system which uses my partner's account. I am happy to report that I have once again gotten Taylor (and Niall Horan, but that's another story) into his top 5.
this album just keeps growing on me. there's nothing here that rivals her best songs and there's a few that I'm not in love with but most of it is really great.
I think it's interesting that Millennials and higher have equal gender fan rates and Gen Z skews immensely female. Kinda makes sense for the narratives coming out of the SwiftTok folks who are like "men shouldn't come to these concerts." Definitely a very isolate view, thankfully. I don't think Taylor sees a lack of a Gen Z male audience as a negative thing, but I wonder why it's not as equal as other generations.
I expect that would look similar for pretty much any pop star. High school/young boys feel like they're not "supposed" to like artists like Taylor, and then by early to mid twenties they realize it's stupid
This. I noticed it started to wear off in my old (male) bandmates when we were around 20/21, when they started to "ironically" (giant eye roll) like Carly Rae Jepsen. She's a real gateway pop artist.
that was definitely the majority of my friends in high school too. but i was the weird kid that had artists like Hilary Duff, Mandy Moore, and Michelle Branch written in whiteout on my backpack among a bunch of punk rock bands.
Ya I fell into this for a bit too (although I never really had an "I hate Taylor" phase luckily - at worst I was indifferent)
It's a nice effort but they need much bigger things to happen that being sued by fans if change will happen
