I've posted this video in at least 5 other threads since it aired, but here we are again. Worth watching if interested in the fucked up concert ticket system we live in.
I just laugh anytime someone says Ticketmaster was caught off guard by the demand. All us sitting here in this forum anticipated this was gonna be a nightmare (even if we didn't realize the scale of it), so maybe you need new leadership if you truly didn't see it coming.
The issue with that, though, is it just sets up everyone for disappointment when they inevitably do it again. I agree, the Grammy stuff was tone deaf given the circumstances, but she can't really say "we're getting it ironed out" when she and everyone around her knows that they aren't. Ticketmaster has had years to improve upon their shitty system, and if anything, they've only made it worse. They weren't going to correct or fix anything overnight. So then, you just have Taylor making empty promises and people would've then came at her again. There was no way to win.
Ok take that out, but yes I genuinely would've just appreciated some recognition from her of what we were going through. And I mean it wouldn't be an empty promise when the queue was paused - specifically a place I would've liked to hear something from her. But like I'm not sitting here furious at Taylor or anything lol just think a little would've gone a long way
People on her Reddit are saying it was her and her team’s decision to pull the general onsale tomorrow but idk how legit that actually it’s
Everyone complaining about dynamic pricing too... one thing I did not see was platinum tickets. Swifties really just make things up and run with it lol
Tbh I feel like a lot of people who don't buy tickets regularly don't understand the difference between regular tickets, dynamic pricing, scalped tickets, etc. My sister text me upset that Paramore tickets were so expensive not realizing she was looking at verified resell and it wasn't the price Paramore had set. I've also had friends accidentally buy from ticket resellers because it's the first ad result when they google an artists concert so they think they're official. It's easy for people to get scammed and think it's coming officially from the artist
These are the same kids who thought When We Were Young was a scam because it, uh, was a festival? They definitely are not regular concert or festival goers
I saw a ton of conjecture about dynamic pricing too. People were getting jumped on for saying that prices were higher yesterday, when they in fact were, it just wasn't dynamic pricing. Dynamic pricing means prices can change in real time, on the fly, based on current demand. Platinum tickets are just Ticketmaster scalping their own seats for exorbitant prices. Neither of those were a thing. They did raise prices for the Capital One sale, though. It just wasn't fluctuating as dynamic pricing would. They raised the prices before the start of the sale, and the tickets remained at that singular higher price point throughout the duration. So everyone was kind of right, just misunderstanding what "dynamic" actually meant.
Yesterday I had to listen to the radio and they were giving away taylor tickets every half hour so there are some left at least lol
I honestly don't think this was a case of bots or whatever buying up tickets. I truly think there was insane demand and even with all these extra dates at stadiums, there just isn't room for everyone who wants to go.
