Those remaining tickets are absolutely going to be scalped by Taylor and Ticketmaster, not a doubt. Take a look at StubHub, there’s already 250 more tickets listed for Philly than there was an hour ago.

I guess for me, the annoyance isn't the level of demand. I knew what I was getting myself into, and I knew there was a good possibility I wouldn't even get the chance to get tickets. What pisses me off is that I got through twice, when plenty of tickets were available, and was simply not allowed to buy them because Ticketmaster broke. By every reasonable expectation, I should have tickets right now. I don't because the company that has a monopoly on selling tickets wasn't prepared for people who wanted to buy tickets.

I mostly hold Taylor responsible for taking something that worked flawlessly (the rep tour verification rollout was a dream) and breaking it by agreeing to the model we ended up with. But I guess she did that with Loverfest, but I wasn't trying for those because neither stadium was anywhere near where I lived, so I didn't realize it then.

I have a hard time judging anyone specifically here because I don't know what the negotiations were. Ticketmaster literally owns all the venues of size that Taylor can play at. I don't know how much leverage she actually had versus just not touring.

Yup. They need to go back to the old days where you put in a number of seats, they tell you what seats you get, and you either buy them or try again. No more putting seats in carts. I must have had 100 different seats in my cart and none of them worked. Even VIP.

Absolutely 100% I definitely agree. I think there's a fine line between that and people thinking they are entitled to the ticket because they've been to x many tours or whatever. Those kind of things are slipping in between completely legitimate complaints.

Yeah, I'm totally fine with all of that. In theory, that was supposed to be in practice here, but it was so vague that people were rightfully when upset when they found out it apparently only boosted your place in line to receive a code, which, given how many they gave out, really didn't amount to a whole lot.

The Reputation system was gatekeep-y to an extent, but it did work in the sense that it significantly reduced traffic on Ticketmaster at any given time. Your code was good for a specific window, and were able to boost your window to earlier time slots by buying merch, watching videos, etc. And no one was at a distinct disadvantage. Even a husband just trying to buy tickets for his kids could theoretically have kept the "Look What You Made Me Do" video on loop all day in the background and earned a pretty good spot.

If I didn't get an error message, I got the "another fan beat you to those tickets" message. If you're going to have a cart system, at least have one that works!

Yeah, absolutely. I mean, I joked to @Garrett that we should get tickets for how much we've written about her music over the years, but I'm definitely grossed out by people who actually think they're owed a slot because they spend 20 percent of their time trying to decode the latest Taylor Swift Instagram post.

This is correct. Legally, the venues have to be able to release some tickets during a deemed "general on sale" period because the event has to be considered "open to the public", as in, the public can purchase a ticket from the box office with no participation in a contest, or need to have a code or special credit card.

But, of course, there's no like, set percentage that they have to set aside. It's why you'll never see a single ticket in a general on-sale for most major events. What few were released were instantly gobbled by bots before your page even refreshed to let you in.

I'm guessing that they'll just casually drop the few remaining tickets at random with no fanfare, and they'll all be scooped up by bots the way production holds close to the event often are.

I’m pretty sure Ticketmaster will either give whatever is left to stub hub to resell or list them on Ticketmaster as resale tickets eventually. Makes the whole situation even worse.

I guess I'm also a little confused as to what people want Taylor to do or say. Is "hey sorry that was rough" really sufficient for anyone? Is that going to make them feel better? I feel bad for the people who got left out, and who had miserable experiences, and even for the people who did get tickets but still had to jump through every hoop imaginable. But Taylor can't really do or say anything to change that.

It's very possible that she cannot contractually say anything with regard to throwing Ticketmaster under the bus. The fact that Ticketmaster themselves released a statement explaining what happened (according to them) is quite honestly more accountability than they've ever given.

I'm not saying any of that is good at all, but there's nothing Taylor or her team can do outside of play more shows, and even that won't solve much.

I didn't try for the Reputation tour because I did not like that album at the time (I like it a lot more now and regret that decision) but I was pretty fascinated by the Taylor Swift Tix approach and wrote at length about why it was an intriguing strategy for getting tickets to fans. This year's strategy...not so much.

I wouldn’t expect her to say anything. The contract has a non-disparagement clause in it.

Nothing she says can make people feel better. It is what it is. But people have to understand that while she isn’t directly responsible for what happened, she is part of the reason it did happen. She can literally ask for anything of Ticketmaster and they’ll agree to it.

Mark Hoppus toed the line pretty well by just saying "Hey, I tried it too and it sucked." That's probably the most negative you'll hear from an artist benefitting from it unless this is the straw that breaks everything.

I mean she doesn't have to disparage ticketmaster. Just a simple - "Hey guys I know there are some issues that are being worked out. We're working with ticketmaster to iron these issues out and will update you when we can. Thank you so much for the support you're showing today - it means more than you know!" would have come across a lot better than "OMG another grammy nom!!! Sick!"
