Goddamn. I LOVE Cruel Summer, Lover, And I Think He Knows. Easily the favorites. The rest of the album is still just really solid though. I probably like this more off the first listen than any other first listen of her albums. Also, I Think He Knows screams CRJ so hard and I love it.
Taylor doing Haim on The Man is wow I feel like it's weird that yeehaw Taylor is kinda back but not fully, I Forgot That You Existed and Paper Rings are bops but only semi yeehaw London Boy to Soon You'll Get Better is a jarring transition, Soon You'll Get Better is obviously one of her best songs though I don't hate YNTCD and Me but they definitely don't fit in, especially bookending Afterglow which is an incredible song, and she's a coward for getting rid of spelling is fun is It's Nice To Have A Friend her version of We Are Going To Be Friends by The White Stripes, if not huge fucking coincidence haha Daylight is great and it's killing me what it reminds me of
If this car performance of cruel summer’s bridge is any indication I need to bring an apology letter to those around me at this tour because yikes that’s not my key
My favorites haven’t changed from first listen, Cruel Summer, Paper Rings, and Afterglow are really fucking good songs and easily the best on this album
One of my favorite musicians from Chicago (Lili Trifilio/Beach Bunny) did a short cover of Lover and I encourage you all to take a listen!
I decided to split this into three EPs for my wife because it seemed like a good idea at the time. EP 1: 1. Lover 2. It's Nice To Have a Friend 3. Soon You'll Get Better 4. The Archer 5. Cornelia Street 6. Daylight EP 2: 1. London Boy 2. The Man 3. You Need To Calm Down 4. Paper Rings 5. Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince 6. I Think He Knows EP 3: 1. ME! 2. Cruel Summer 3. False God 4. Death By A Thousand Cuts 5. I Forgot That You Existed 6. Afterglow Still playing around with the third one.
I really love “I Forgot That You Existed” as opener. It feels like the laid back counterpart to “...Ready For It?”
Bought the deluxe version (1 of 4) at Target tonight... listening on the way home I could barely recognize the difference in most songs. Paper Ring seems to be the standout so far (only got to song 11 on the drive home). Daughter wasn't impressed at all, who's been a huge fan so far of her work (she's age 6). Maybe it'll grow on us?
somehow I just realized today that Lover reminds me of Love On The Brain, I think it's both the sound and the way she uses pauses
favorites after a few listens Lover, The Archer, Miss Americana, Paper Rings, Cornelia Street, Death By A Thousand Cuts, False God, Afterglow, It's Nice To Have A Friend, Daylight but I like em all
I kinda feel the same way. Except that Lover stands a cut above as one of my favorite things that I've heard in the last few years
