it’s taking me forever to listen to the whole album, but that’s because I keep going back to and listening to tracks numerous times. but I am enjoying every track so far.
Ellie Goulding’s Delirium was that album for me in a pretty dark place. Those albums are special for a lot of reasons. I’m glad you’ve found some comfort here.
It's Nice To Have a Friend is such a beautiful little song. I really love how Me! kind of just explodes and then it gets stripped wayyy down to just that simple little song before the full reflection on Daylight. Really the perfect way to end this album.
Some random thoughts: -Album grows on me more and more with each listen. At first I was a little disappointed but now I love it. Me is probably the worst song here but it is not that bad too -Cruel Summer fucking rules. To me it is like Blank Space 2.0 and BS was one of my favorite Taylor songs. I can only imagine how hyped fans would be if it was lead single. -When i first heard The Man I didn't like the way chorus sounds with her low voice delivery. But then I thought that this may be intentional in a way that she is singing about being a man with low man-like voice (I'm 100% overthinking this one) -Miss Americana sounds a lot like Wildest Dreams. It's not a bad thing. One of my favorite songs from the record -That synth line in Death By A Thousand Cuts is gorgeous -False God is pretty much The 1975 song Overall it is a great record. A lot of interesting stuff in lyrics and sound.
The first half of this album is astoundingly good; "Cornelia Street" is currently my favorite, but there are 6 or 7 perfect songs just in the first nine.
I'm not in love with Cruel Summer like many people are. I definitely like it, but it reminds me too much of Getaway Car without actually being Getaway Car
"Cruel Summer" as a single: it would have been fun to see Taylor Swift pull a power move and release the song of the summer in mid August.
P4K has takeaways from the record but leave it out of their weekly records you need to listen to list. They make me scratch my head with T Swift. And the takeaways column is really darn positive. So idk what gives.
This record is so good. Reputation has aged well I think, but I could still cut record in half. I think I’d drop “Me” here....nothing else. God that “Me!” single....I still don’t get it. It’s clearly catchy, but idk. Not my thing.
Cruel Summer was probably going to be the single released when YNTCD was slotted but that was also Pride
Glad I really like this album after how much I disliked Reputation. Death By a Thousand Cuts and False God are the standouts on first listen.
Went with Deluxe Version 1 despite there apparently being Long Live stuff in 2 and Holy Ground stuff in 3? Couldn’t pass up the ATW first draft.
