Narratively speaking and with the way it builds I low key love The Archer into Me! as a potential 1-2 start off for a resequence
I had "It's Nice To Have A Friend" into "Cruel Summer" for a second as a weird lowkey intro but it didn't quite work.
This is easily her best album for me. There is no “Stay Stay Stay” or “Bad Blood” on here and getting rid of the spelling is fun bit improves “Me” a lot.
I still taste garlic every time I listen to Stay Stay Stay. I was working as an intern at a study abroad program in Italy and we listened to Red doing the meal prep for Thanksgiving and dicing garlic cloves to that song is a visceral memory for some reason that i’ll never quite grasp. But I love it.
Paper Hearts. It’s weird to me you adore that one and don’t like Stay Stay Stay, though. They’re in the same wheelhouse for her, too.
I really have a visceral reaction to Stay Stay Stay. Something about the lyrics and how she sings them makes it the only song by her that I cannot stand. I deleted it out of my library so I never have to even skip it on Red. Paper Rings is great, though. The only problem I have with the sequencing I have is the first two tracks don’t feel like they go together. The rest flows nicely for me.
Now that I’ve listened to Missy’s “Throw It Back” forty times its time for another Lover listen through
My favorite three songs after a few listens: Paper Rings Death By A Thousand Cuts It's Nice To Have A Friend
Is that Annie yelling "he looks so pretty like a devil" in Cruel Summer? That's my favorite part of the song right now, haha EDIT: It's my favorite part of the entire album right now.
Not even close for me. I would take an album of Me remixes over Stay Stay Stay. But to each their own. 2nd listen through and yeah- this is fantastic.
“Cruel” is one of my favorite songs ever so it’s basically unfair of Taylor Swift to use any part of that song because I’m basically required to love “Cruel Summer” by association alone, on top of it being an amazing song in its own right.
Also I’m assuming “I Forgot You Existed” is about Calvin Harris? If so GD, what a summer breeze of a death blow that song is. Indifference, damn
“I Forgot That You Existed” and “Cruel Summer” both would’ve been excellent single choices Also “I forgot” has major Lauv vibes
