So rumors are that version 1 of the deluxe has a shorter/earlier version of ATW in the journal. But version 4 has the full final version of ATW. I don’t know what I want!!!
Daylight is a great closer, overall the album was very good, hope it does really well and her success keeps growing.
yeah, it grew on me a lot, it's a fun song. plus without "spelling is fun!" the super cringey moment for me is gone
Just finished my first listen. This might be her best album is what my heart is telling me, but I need to listen again and again and again...
Not to rain on everyone's parade, but I have so many problems with this album. I'm about 5-6 songs in, and it comes across as a mediocre, washed up attempt to pander to meme/internet culture, and whatever is "cool". She's trying way too hard to be "Taylor the woke ally" but it comes off as fake. I also think it's super fucked how she's essentially going to CAPITALIZE off of that.
The title track was decent, at least. I'm not out here JUST to be a hater. The songs are undoubtedly catchy. That's all they are, though.
I think there’s gonna be a lot of people that think the songs are more than “just catchy” ... especially people that have listened to more then 1/3 of the album.
I fully intend to finish this album. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong but everything I've heard including the singles give me this impression.
Ok, listening to Afterglow right now. So far, False God is the most interesting thing she's done in a minute. The song with the Dixie Chicks was cool. My opinion still largely stands, and "ME!" is one of these last 3 songs, so I don't see it changing much.
This is more to what I was responding too, I don’t care if someone doesn’t like the record but I don’t think these substantial evidence that she’s trying to captialize off being a “woke ally”. Really she could sell records no matter what she sings about, so I have no reason to believe that she’s not being sincere in her message on this record.
I largely really like most tracks but the happy songs are kinda losing me right now. It's hard to jive with something like paper rings when you're cripplingly depressed lol
you don't think the sincerity of someone's wokeness can't be questioned if said person only switched from being apolitical after it being no longer advantageous to her due to not really catering to the country crowd at all? Also Taylor can have a way with words that's a little corny (remember spelling is fun?) but that's honestly just her way to write but I get why it would put someone off at first.
I know personally, I don’t feel right diving into assumptions as to what she actually believes.. but maybe that’s just me.
Taylor: *apolitical* Internet: Taylor is a coward and possibly a secret white supremacist! Taylor: *political* Internet: Taylor is an opportunist capitalizing off truly woke people!
