I think it's a bad song anyway, but yeah, with a different duet partner, I might have made my peace with it. "London Boy" is fine, imo. It didn't bother me. My least favorite other than the two singles is "False God."
The “spelling is fun” line was my favorite part about “Me” (which actually isn’t saying that much since I don’t like the song.) Like yeah, it was dorky as shit but I thought it was fun haha.
First listen through and I really liked it, definitely agree that there is no way this was slated to go before Reputation, it is VERY 2019 Taylor . Hot take that the 2-10 stretch from Cruel Summer to Death By A Thousand Cuts is one of my favorite sequences she’s ever put out.
I thought it was decent. I enjoyed it better than rep but not at much as 1989. Daylight was a nice closer.
I feel like it's never gonna not bother me that she thinks it's crazy to leave Christmas lights up until January...especially when 'February' would fit the same into the lyrics.
Listening to this later tonight when it hits streaming but the reactions in here have me excited. People loving Cruel Summer + that Annie Clark co-write is especially promising to me
can I have a Kayla tinfoil hat moment and say that it’s weird to me that Joe wasn’t in that video with her considering most of this era is clearly about him and he’s an actor so it’s not like it would be weird to do a music video that being said lovely video
After four full listens, two thoughts: 1.) So many jams. 2.) ME! is getting skipped every single time.
I think from a PR stand point, even if you’re SURE you’re going to marry someone, if you’re as big as Taylor Swift, you would NEVER put a s/o in a piece of your work that can be watched till the end of time. Sort of like how Karlie has an entire section in the 1989 tour movie that if they truly fell out, Taylor probably regrets.
I totally get the PR mindset for sure. I guess Bey and Jay are different in that they’re already married now, but they came to mind thinking about it.
I don't know if it is my favorite yet - it is too early - but I f***ing LOVE "Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince".
Haven’t had a chance to listen to the rest of the album yet but just watched the video for Lover. Didn’t think I could enjoy it even more but that did it! It’s definitely been my favorite by far of the singles so I’m hoping for more like it on the album
Oh my god Paper Hearts sounds so much like Weezer’s “If You’re Wondering...” This is The first Taylor album to REALLY click with me, big fan
Some songs that remind me of some of the Lover songs in the nicest way: Paper Rings: Lover: I think Cornelia St. sounds like an Andrew McMahon song and Miss Americana is like Lana. I would love to see her mood board for these writing sessions.
Question: Do y’all think Taylor is the most popular musician alive right now? I mean I can’t think of anyone else on her level.
Adele, Ed Sheeran, Beyonce, and Ariana Grande are probably the only ones in the conversation. But I think she's probably that, yeah.
