Someone on twitter posted pictures of a target that had it out on the sales floor already...

 

Yeah they do this with big releases to advertise, but the barcode won’t scan till it comes out

 

That seems very confusing and like a great way for cashiers to get yelled at for thing that aren’t their fault all week.

Haha true. But I’m pretty sure they’re usually kept in a section clearly marked “Available on _____.” If you try to check out with it it’ll say on the computer that it won’t scan until the release date.

I remember this happening with the 1975 record I believe

 

Seems like just asking for shop lifters as well.

 

Would be understandable if it was jewel case only with a BIG sticker that says "pre-order now" or some shit.

True! If the barcode can't be scanned, it's possible that the sensors wouldn't catch it either, right?
