Haha, yeah. I really like The Archer—but it doesn’t pop like it probably will on the album just yet for me.

 

I listened to The Archer and You Need To Calm Down for the first time yesterday and I liked The Archer a lot and LOVED You Need To Calm Down

 

As I predicted to myself, The Archer's existence has made me like the other two a lot more. This happens (to me) on every single album she's ever put out. Although I can't wait to hear which "this screams to be a single" perfect track will be on Lover that will for whatever reason NOT be a single.

 

Gotcha, that makes sense. Their take doesn't, though, so I'll continue my tradition of not clicking links in Vice articles.

 

She has this really uncanny ability to make everything make sense in the context of an album, and make certain singles just work better with everything it's surrounded with

"The Archer" has been stuck in my head all morning. I listened while walking from my parking garage to my office and with the little morning chill and the sun just coming up, it was PERFECT.

 

Damn. "The Archer" is incredible. What a song. Definitely a hint of "Time After Time" flavor, especially at the beginning, but more than that it just has this really cool timeless feel while also sounding unmistakably like 2019 Taylor Swift.
