I agree with the first part. I think Speak Now has lower lows which hold it back. Also a good amount of the songs are just too long. I find that a Taylor Swift album is best when a few people come in and help write some of the songs.
There are a few songs on Fearless that are just boring to me. Nothing on Speak Now is dull, though I agree that a few songs probably go on longer than they need to. I think a full album of solo writing was really good for sharpening her skills as a storyteller. I’d love her to do it again.
I found it fun seeing people's lists. Will try to post one, but note that I don't listen much to pre-Red Taylor so there's not really much representation from those eras except Mine in the HMs. I think I need to revisit those albums soon. Oh my god, hahahahahahahaha 'Cats': Taylor Swift has one line in the movie, but crushes her song "Swift, a 10-time Grammy winner and self-proclaimed "cat lady," makes what is essentially a glorified cameo as Bombalurina, an impish orange Bengal cat who doesn't appear onscreen until roughly an hour and a half into the movie." "He's got soul!" Bombalurina yells defiantly. And that is Swift's sole line of dialogue, before disappearing for the rest of the movie.
Have people just really never interacted with Cats as a property? I’m genuinely surprised by the amount of people who didn’t realize Tay was basically in a cameo role.
No it always freaked me out haha, same with Lion King on Broadway Also Universal's fault for tailoring the marketing around her, no pun intended, although it's understandable
I watched the 1998 musical-to-video thing once, but I couldn’t tell you anything about the plot or characters.
I've always known Cats was a thing. Like, it's always been a slight part of my general knowledge of the world, sitting in some corner of my mind. This being a film, however, has made me look into what Cats actually is and I just... I can't believe it. Cats might be one of the craziest things I've ever heard of I am without a doubt going to see this on my day off Monday
