I will second the love for her debut. She got a bit lost on the second album for me. Too faceless, too pop-generic.
I like her second album a lot. The first record is more "fun," which allows her to show off her personality a lot, but the second one plays with breakup album tropes in a way that I find really satisfying. It's maybe a tad overproduced, and could benefit from leaning a little more into country instrumentation than it does, but I just think the songs are really strong.
This album fucking rules. I agree it could’ve benefited from some editing (seriously how is Me not a bonus track?) but I’m surprised critics seem so cool on it
I need to return to it. It initially came off a bit like wallpaper to me, so I didn't give it as many listens as I probably should. Might grow on me.
She’s working on something now, single coming soon apparently. Maybe you can revisit the last one when the new one comes out.
Finally had a chance to listen to the album. It was difficult because I was in a car with Taylor h8rs ruining my moment! Thought it'd be all magical listening to it on the way to the beach but I couldn't pay attn. Lover was my fave standout track but it's hard to say because I couldn't pay attn as much as I wanted. I was waiting for Soon You'll Get Better to destroy me since my BIL has battled cancer, but it did not. Which I actually appreciate lol. I think it was vague enough to not get me, unlike Ronan which is soul destroying for me. Def don't have an opinion formulated yet until I can listen in peace with headphones
my dad told me this morning that he doesn't like taylor anymore because she is ignorant about politics and the equality act. i said that i love him, and i love taylor, but we aren't going to talk about it. then i turned the volume back up in the car so he couldn't talk over it.
SYGB is an automatic skip, everything else is good if not great on this album. It just feels out of place and not special at all.
It’s the most unguarded and honest we have ever (and will ever?) see Taylor. It’s immensely intimate and special.
