I figured out what London Boy reminds me of, in Why Should I Worry from Oliver and Company where Billy Joel says he's in the upper west side one minute then the lower east side the next
A Star Is Born selling more than Billie and being the best selling album is wild By the way she sold half a million and Gaga sold 445,000
I like this order. It really helps Soon You'll Get Better by getting you in a melancholy mood before and then having sort of an interlude after. I enjoy MAATHP and London Boy so I will probably look for places to slide them in but this is a good starting point.
Sorry this thread moves too fast for me to keep up. Have we talked about how the "Spelling is fun" line has been taken out of Me? Also it's crazy how part of me knows that this album is too long, but another part of me wouldn't want to sacrifice any song on here........(maybe Afterglow).
It's funny, because I'm usually a big one for resequencing albums, but the sequencing here actually works great for me, it's just a couple tracks too long. I just dropped a few of the songs I feel are weaker than the others but left the sequencing the same otherwise. On every listen I've come away with a new favorite and had different songs stand out as highlights to me. This early in the game, that's a sign of a real strong album.
Hyden's thoughts align pretty well with mine on this. After ’Lover,’ Taylor Swift Should Consider Walking Away From Pop Stardom
jackpot y'all - someone scanned and uploaded all 4 deluxe editions to their google drive. Lover Deluxe Editions 1-4
hyden gets so many basic things wrong that i had a lot of trouble making it through that piece (wow "paper rings" is an '80s throwback???? lyrically "miss americana" is sub-...john mellencamp?????). great final sentence too: "She should instead work instead of making her The Hissing Of Summer Lawns."
I too am ready for a more subdued, mature album from her. This album to me feels like things she’s already done, but already done better.
The half of the album which is my favorite is the stuff that is exactly what you are referring to. If the whole album was this way I would probably think its her best. Lover, The Archer, Miss Americana, Cornelia Street, Death, False God, Afterglow, Daylight.... that's basically exactly what you are referring to right?
Those are the ones that I would have expected to like the most.. but for some reason still feel empty. You’re on the right track though with what I was saying. But more along the lines of Treacherous, I Almost Do, This Love, and Dancing With Our Hands Tied.
I’m ashamed at how many listens it took for me to realize the cheer “Go! Fight! Win!” was being used.
