"I Forgot You Existed" flows into "Me" extremely well. Doesn't make "Me" any better of a song putting it as track #2, but getting it out of the way early on would make it easier for me to sit through haha.
I have multiple parts from this album stuck in my head at any given moment Right now it’s the cruel summer bridge And also death by a thousand cuts
I'm halfway through right now Thoughts so far: -"The Man" absolutely should've been the lead single IMO -This is excellent
I like the flow of this. 1. I Forgot You Existed 2. ME! 3. Cruel Summer 4. You Need To Calm Down 5. The Man 6. Death By A Thousand Cuts 7. Miss Americana 8. I Think He Knows 9. Afterglow 10. The Archer 11. False God 12. Cornelia Street 13. Paper Rings 14. London Boy 15. It's Nice To Have A Friend 16. Soon You'll Get Better 17. Lover 18. Daylight
Lover: 1. I Forgot That You Existed 2. Cruel Summer 3. Lover 4. The Man 5. The Archer 6. I Think He Knows 7. Cornelia Street 8. Death By a Thousand Cuts 9. Soon You’ll Get Better 10. False God 11. Afterglow 12. It’s Nice to Have a Friend (my inspiration here is “Her Majesty”) B-Sides: 1. Paper Rings 2. Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince 3. You Need to Calm Down 4. Daylight
This album just gets better and better for me. I could see it surpassing 1989 for me, even if as an album it doesn’t work quite as well.
False God rules goddamn song kind of passed by me on the first couple listens What does that horn remind me of??
I think the only song I actively dislike is London Boy. I'm starting to like the back half more and more. It's Nice to Have a Friend is awesome.
absolutely wonderful songs: "cruel summer," "lover," "the man," "the archer," "i think he knows," "paper rings," "cornelia street," "DEATH BY A THOUSAND CUTS," "soon you'll get better," "false god," "it's nice to have a friend," "afterglow" very good songs: "i forgot that you existed," "daylight," "you need to calm down" idgaf whenever taylor swift does lana del rey i don't get it at all: "miss americana & the heartbreak prince" god i wish she had written any other lyric: "london boy" the first single: "me!"
“Afterglow” is not a closer at all! “Daylight” ties the album together perfectly, has that callback to Red, and then has that little spoken word tag. If you’re going to cut one of them, “Afterglow” is the one to cut.
I kinda see it as the mission statement of Lover, ties back a lot of the NY references and the love story that moves throughout the album. No love for It's Nice to Have a Friend? Also once I decided London Boy was a satire (a la Blank Space) I realized it kind of goes.
I kind of don’t think you have an album without “Daylight.” It’s not my favorite song on the record, but it’s really the only fitting ending point. Closing on “It’s Nice to Have a Friend” feels like an ellipsis.
here's my tentative resequencing: 1. the archer 2. cruel summer 3. i think he knows 4. the man 5. cornelia street 6. soon you'll get better 7. it's nice to have a friend 8. lover 9. paper rings 10. death by a thousand cuts 11. false god 12. afterglow 13. daylight 45 minutes and perfect imo
