There is no way on God's green earth that taylor is indifferent about kimye. even YNTCD references kimye. Sometimes Taylor repurposes who songs are about so it wouldn't surprise me if she set out to write it about someone different or if it applies to multiple ppl.
I feel like I'm really bad at the who is it about game because I was like aww It's Nice To Have A Friend is about Abigail missing the entire verse about it being a romantic relationship
I wish I could be anything other than miserable about her re-recording her whole catalog. I get why she wants to. I do. But ugh. Do not want.
Ah man, we're on totally different pages w/ this apparently, lol. Worst case scenario, it's an endeavor I listen to maybe once in my life but never pick over the originals (especially w/ the later ones), but still celebrate as her taking back what's hers. Maybe ends up w/ less heart & a little uncanny valley sounding. Best case scenario, hearing what'll be a 31-yr-old Taylor sing songs from her youth, which were literally about being young & growing up, brings a beautiful, additional layer to the songs. *shrug*
I really do get why she wants to do it. Her situation is awful. I want her to just move forward. It's so counter-productive to an artist at her peak to look backwards for as long as this project will take. Older artists who are out of new idea do it all the time, but she's one of the all time greats at the peak of her powers. The presumable years it will take to do this are valuable time she'll lose. And if they come out meh and everyone shrugs them off? How does that alter her career? Her state of mind? It just bums me out across the board.
Wild theory, but could it possibly be about Karlie Kloss if the rumors about them having more animosity than most realized is true.
Anyone else realize that Paper Rings is basically (If You're Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To? I say it in a very positive way
I Forgot That You Existed carries the I Did Something Bad formula: Kimye: First Verse Calvin: Second Verse
Also I just hope a re-recorded catalog brings a balanced setlist tour where she does all eras. I’m fine with Lover having it’s day, but she has too many great songs for a rotational one night every couple years performance.
You and I are definitely on the same page with this whole thing. I really do wonder how much time she’ll devote to that project.
AND HE LOOKS UP GRINNIN LIKE A DEVIL is my favorite moment on this album by far it makes me smile so much every time
Also my favorite. I love when she let's herself lose control just a liiiiiittle bit in the vocals. Rare but nice treat.
lol. not sure i would've turned in a more positive review than anna did, much as i love the record. also i'll never know how to fix this but one of these days it'd be nice to figure out how to not get misgendered by strangers lol
i don't think i'd be able to successfully resequence this record, kinda think what we got is a best-case scenario. regardless: i dream of this album starting with "the archer"
oh nooo i'm sorry, i hope bringing the tweet here wasn't distressing. the reactions all over are hilarious for these reviews though - swifties are still mad (minus Red) and half of the ppl on the other forum i read think Pfork was paid off to write positive reviews.
Agree with some of the review. Disagree with it in parts as well. Mainly agree that I would chop about 5 tracks from this and it would be one of the best records of the year. Would chop some because they are bad (Me!, London Boy) and some because they are musically redundant even if I like them (Daylight). I also think Miss Americana is a littler minor. 13 best tracks here are so good.

Red: 1) State of Grace 2) Red 3) Treacherous 4) Stay Stay Stay 5) Holy Ground 6) IKYWT 7) I Almost Do 8) 22 9) WANGBT 10) Come Back...Be Here 11) Sad Beautiful Tragic 12) Everything Has Changed 13) All Too Well 14) Begin Again 1989: 1) New Romantics 2) Blank Space 3) Style 4) Out of the Woods 5) All You Had To Do Was Stay 6) Welcome To New York 7) Shake It Off 8) I Wish You Would 9) Wonderland 10) Wildest Dreams 11) How You Get the Girl 12) This Love 13) I Know Places 14) Clean B-Side: 15) You Are In Love Rep: 1) Ready For It? 2) End Game 3) IDSB 4) Don't Blame Me 5) Delicate 6) So It Goes 7) Getaway Car 8) King of My Heart 9) Dancing With Our Hands Tied 10) Dress 11) Call It What You Want 12) New Year's Day
Please don’t tell my bosses that I’m about to spend my day resequencing for this thanks for your discretion
Give me their number I’ll make them understand. Only caveat the day section has to start with ME! lol
