"Mirrorball" is such a good song - that lingering, echo-y guitar in the background creates this sonic soundscape that takes my mind and emotions to a whole other place, and the lyrics help define that place to a greater degree. Almost gives me 90's teen alternative vibes.
Lol I did think it was gonna be a "thank you to the fans" memo release and then I was like oh I'd have to buy it.
it’s honestly surprising to me how quick of a turnaround this album had from conception to completion. not even just because of the surprise drop, but it being a 16 track album and everything just sounding so fully fleshed out and labored over. i know it’s not like her or any of her collaborators had much else to do with lockdown but still. damn. late April to early July while having to work remotely seems super quick for an artist of her stature
Miranda Reinert has been writing some great newsletters – her latest tackles the toxicity of stan culture taking root on Twitter, and why the loss of tumblr devastates young people searching for community.
She really is such a business, and that's why I thought she'd try and capitalize on younger appeal with pop a little longer. The door isn't totally closed for that, but maybe this type of release could open the flood gates for more exploration in the future. NCT 127 gimme gimme ringtone
Doesn’t look like it. I ordered the 7” and finally grabbed a CD version of the album. Just take all my money, why don’t ya, Taylor!
I’m out of views on this, anything good worth copypasting? The Story Behind Every Song on Taylor Swift’s folklore
I've come to the conclusion that even without Exile I don't think there's one album I enjoy more from start to finish this year.. 2020 really is full of surprises.
The more I listen to it the more I feel like Illicit Affairs sounds like something from one of the first three Dashboard records - can't you picture "That's the thing about illicit affairs" in Carabba's voice?
This was obviously directed at me. And honestly, when it’s 5 in the morning and i just woke up, I don’t really care how I spell it.
"and you know damn well...." in illicit affairs is probably my favourite pronounciation but I also love the f-bombs. I know it's still pretty early to compare with her other albums but I really think this might be my favourite TS album. You don't get many artists where their EIGHTH album is your favourite. She truly could go anywhere for her next project.
alright, it's settled. invisible string is my fav track. the only person that can change this is tomorrow me. good luck, loser!
