“Fifteen” was when I took her seriously. Anyone who can write that song is in the top top top tier.

Just realized how much My Tears Ricochet sounds like the spiritual successor to Wildest Dreams.

Also attacking someone on Twitter for writing a favorable review that got an 8 is... 0_o

8.0 but no BNM. So Taylor made an emo classic?

I can't imagine what weird place you'd have to be in your life to feel the need to call a journalist in the middle of the night to tell them you think their 8/10 score should be a 10/10.

Seeing the writer in question be harassed by her stans for an OVERWHELMINGLY POSITIVE REVIEW. What the fuck.

  10. That’s just how I expected their staff to score it

Feel like someone needs to blast out to Taylor stans that the writer doesn't pick the score.

Why I don't cover 'big' pop-adjacent albums, exhibits A through Z. This is a positive take and she's getting fucking DEATH THREATS. Stans are a disease. Like what you like but don't fucking HARASS PEOPLE OVER IT. FUCK.

Solid review but I can't help but feel like a non BNM 8 is about the most neutral move possible. I agree with most of it though it feels a little muted on the highlights and calling out Seven as a cut candidate is a head-scratcher for sure.

Yeah, it definitely solidified for me that she was the real deal. I didn't hear Fearless until a month or so before Speak Now came out, because I'd loved "Mine" and figured I needed to hear what she was doing beyond her big hits. That song blew me away and made me a fan.

Also, I really think artists need to collectively denounce a lot of the behavior their stans take part in. Stuff like this is categorically insane, and while I'm not sure anyone can "stop" it, I think the people these folks idolize have to be the best bet for reversing the trend. Things have gotten way out of hand if a completely fair 8.0 review gets you death threats. I've always been annoyed that Pitchfork didn't review her records for years, but Jesus, maybe they had a point.

The stans’ reactions are especially insane given it’s Taylor Swift, arguably the single biggest star in music right now (certainly top 3).

P4K can influence the trajectory of lesser known artists, but nothing they could do would move the needle on someone like Swift. And it’s a positive review anyway! Ridiculous.

and that's a great score, I would have rated slightly higher, but who cares

stan harassment should be denounced resoundingly

Phew, just got done harassing staff members with pictures of Baphomet's head on Taylor's body because this didn't get a 10. How is everyone else's morning
