I already like “Hoax” more on repeat listens. It gives me “Caves” vibes where it’s not intended to give you nice catharsis and a nice little bow and I respect that if you do it right
Hoax is the only track I've skipped before, It definitely isn't bad and will probably grow on me, but peace is so good that it kind of overshadows it right now.

How Aaron Dessner and Taylor Swift Stripped Down Her Sound on 'Folklore' Apologies if someone else posted this one, Rolling Stone has a bunch of folklore content. This is the first BTS interview with Aaron Dessner that actually feels like it's in-depth and telling you about the process.
reading aaron's retelling of how the project started out really puts into perspective how much of a master of her craft taylor is. i mean, if you couldn't tell just from listening to her music. but it just made me realize that when it comes to the actual process of writing songs, she's one of the best to ever do it
lol remember yesterday when i said these indie musicians were being ridiculous thinking taylor stole from them considering how she could've been taking influence from any number of different eras of music.... “Betty,” which is a song she wrote with William Bowery, she was interested in sort of early Bob Dylan, like Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan, I think. “Epiphany,” early on, felt like some weird Kate Bush-meets-Peter Gabriel thing.
Yeah, there's so much music that sounds like this its so strange to think she lifted it from any specific record.
The lyrics on this are so goddamn good. That’s the biggest surprise for me. Not that I’ve ever thought her lyrics weren’t fine, but they really stand out to me on this one.
just a whole lot of nothing being said here. and what does she mean "whats going on behind the scenes is deeper than that"? why is it so far out of the realm of possibility that taylor wanted to make an album that sounds like this that there must be some insidious conspiracy going on thats the real reason she made this album?
So far I've gotten some Passion Pit, Postal Service, Cartel and Thomas Rhett ft Reba vibes on a couple songs.
Because people believe everything she does is calculated and out of her control and she's not a normal person with her own likes and interests and inspirations.
i don’t even understand why people seem to think this sound is radically different for her. aside from some of the production flourishes, it’s an extremely taylor swift record albeit more mature.
Totally. People are acting like every song she’s wrote before this has been in the same vein as me or shake it off, whereas in actual reality this album isnt a huge departure from her previous work. I love the tomberlin record but the whole thing is such an eye roll. She’s saying now she’s not comparing her work to Taylor/saying she was influenced by it when she literally tweeted the opposite multiple times and told people to google the lyrics as evidence looool
like it just couldnt be any simpler to me. taylor has been a fan of the national for a while (which, by the way, is completely reasonable and believable considering they're one of the biggest "indie" bands in existence right now), her and aaron have known each other for a little bit, she wanted to make some songs that sounds like the music he's worked on (and who wouldn't? his work is incredible), so she called him.
This is a fun read... "Vernon also contributed to two songs, singing on one of the album’s many stunners, “Exile,” while Dessner’s brother and National bandmate, Bryce Dessner, helped orchestrate it with a mix of musicians scattered around the globe (none of whom even knew what they were playing on when they recorded their parts)."
Tomberlin: omg Taylor Swift plagiarized my album! Tomberlin after people respond that this is obviously ridiculous: well well well if it isn’t the consequences of my actions
Yeah idk, it’s disappointing that she’s apparently not going to apologize for literally implying that Taylor specifically ripped her off. At Weddings is a great album but that was such an unnecessary and weird comment to make.
Really mad that I’m never going to be able to listen to At Weddings again without thinking about this total dumbassery.
