    Cardigan: Betty's POV
    August: Inez's POV
    Betty: James' POV

James and Inez are two of Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively's three daughters' names. The third name is currently unknown to the public, but now the Swifties think Betty is her name.

I really hope no more people I like show their big bare asses on Twitter today.

  6. right haha I mean she obviously fucks with Bon Iver and The National but those bands stopped being "indie" over a decade ago lol

Y’know between the Carly B-Sides, Dua Lipa and the magnificence of “Peace” this is the year bass playing (not just low-end synth vibes) made its comeback in major pop music.

Taylor needs to get Seismograph and German Error Message on the next record.

A bunch of people got together to try and make something good that people will like and this is bad, actually, because... (1/7)

It's so wild that just Wednesday I was thinking "man, I haven't had a record hit that sweet spot that Strange Ranger/Hovvdy/Hodera/Wild Pink hit in the past few years" and then fucking Taylor Swift releases it.

Have the people who are big mad about this being a sonic departure that apes "indie" music or whatever even listened to the record? This is so clearly a Taylor Swift record as much as it contains elements of... Bon Iver and The National and Cocteau Twins.

i don't think i'm making an argument, so i apologize if you think that i am. i love this record and am evangelizing for it on every platform i have.

that said, there is a frustrating economic disparity between the top 1% of musicians and everyone else. i empathize with the idea that massive pop releases suck all the promotional air out of the room. as i said to drew, i don't think he's making a strong argument on the coverage side because i don't think "indie spaces" exist in the same way they did even 7 years ago.

for example, i have primarily listened to taylor swift today. i feel bad for an artist like lori mckenna, who is trying to get people to listen to her new album out today. and yeah, that's my choice, but today is one of the biggest chances for hundreds of smaller-but-market-viable artists to monetize their last year and a half of work and continue to build their audience. there's nothing wrong with saying "it sucks that this is how it is".

I love how Lover hinted at what she would go for on here, idk this really feels like one of those albums that needed the one before it to have happened for the new one to have turned out as good as it did

Absolutely. Best thing about the record.

Good bass playing never died in indie.

But I’m loving seeing it foregrounded in pure pop by big stars again.

could be people who only really listen to her singles? because like I said...this sound has been a long time coming if you’re familiar with the deeper cuts
