Taylor Swift - folklore (July 24, 2020) Album • Page 54

Discussion in 'Music Forum' started by bradsonemanband, Jul 23, 2020.

  1. it's not really an album with any singles - she probably chose cardigan because maybe it best reflects the tone and style of the record or it was the song that inspired the rest of the record.

she can turn anything into a hit. haha already has 6.4 million views in under 12 hours

continues the trend of her doing this, haha.

    August should've been the single

Just did my hour of "summer learning" with my four year old. She gets a five minute dance break halfway through, and for the last week or so, it's been a remix of Rihanna's "Diamonds."

Today, though, she requested the one by "the man and Taylor Swift" ("exile"). So there's that.

lol i don't really consider those views a hit so much as a curiosity. should've been "august" or "mirrorball" imo now that i think about it.

There aren't really any songs on here that scream "radio single." But I think with cardigan it pretty much sums up the vibe of the album. Plus the "when you are young they assume you know nothing" line is a very hooky.

Forreal though this really blew me away. Potentially her best. There are no lows on this that match the lows on the last few records. She really went to a place that I was always hoping she'd go. Was not expecting the dream pop/ethereal influence on some of these tracks. Love the repetative keys that run through a lot of the songs. I've only been playing on my phone speakers, so I can't wait to play some of this in a car or in a decent pair of headphones.

i'd kill for a full-length documentary about choosing "ME!" as a lead single.

Yeah, I ordered multiple vinyl variants of this after 4 songs last night....this is next level.

Hopefully more people will check out "Painting of a panic attack" by Frightened Rabbit now too.

Exile is the best duet of the year, imo. Last half of the album is great with mad woman, illicit affairs, and betty being the highlights.

I’m convinced this album will hit a new high once Autumn arrives.

  14. i think the majority of people who get multiple versions do it because they're just collectors, and the records all sit on a shelf together. but i'm sure there's people who like to display them. having some of these album covers in a grid-like frame/display would look really awesome.

Mine stay in my cabinet and I regret purchasing multiple variants of a record.

  19. I'd buy more if I could justify spending that much haha. But yeah, I stuck with just one vinyl copy. I will probably order a CD too though, with a different cover.

I'm not sure I would have picked Cardigan for the lead single but I don't agree that it was definitively a bad choice either, like some of her other past single choices. There's not really one song that stands out to me here as single material, and also all 16 songs are so damn good the argument can kind of be made for almost any of them.

I know I'm not gonna be straight up deleting the single like I've done with a few of the singles on her last few albums. Cardigan is an absolutely gorgeous song.

I wandered over to RYM for the first time and what the fuck is this community, lol? It's so funny how neckbeards who really like Mars Volta and Muse are really angry about this record.
