Same! It would be such a disservice if she did everything but the bonus tracks. Songs like "Jump Then Fall" and "Come Back... Be Here" are top tier.
we need to remember the re-recordings are not a gift for the fans like a live album, acoustic album, or remix album would be. This is about Taylor not owning the actual songs that she created and recorded. As much as we the fans would love to hear a new version of Love Story, if she changed it to something completely new then movies and commercials would still want to use the original one for their soundtracks. This is the way the general public know the song.
Totally. But we all know she likes to make that dough, so I'm assuming she'll include some extra stuff for the fans, like the extended version of "All Too Well" and stuff as bonus tracks. You knowwww she's going to put up all sorts of merch and vinyl variants for each of these albums, so I imagine she'd need to spice things up in order for those to sell like hot cakes. I mean, she DID say she has some "surprises" in store with these new recordings, which makes me assume these are for the fans just as much as a business decision. My imagination is just in another galaxy so yeah...
of for sureee, we just need to temper our expectations, ya know? I will be 100% content with re-recordings that are close to the originals, and any sort of surprises or bonuses on top of that are icing on the cake for me
record 100 of them however you damn well want to taylor but all too well should be the 10 minute version
I’ll definitely buy the fuck out of her previous work but I’m still gonna listen to the original recordings (even Picture to Burn) over anything else.
My record finally got here last week and I'm just throwing it on for the first time right now. Super impressed, awesome sounding pressing.
I've never heard anything before Red (other than radio hits) so these recordings will be a good entry point for me into her earlier writing without sacrificing vocal ability. Aside from the business perspective or re-recording, she's also doing a really big power move in devaluing her previous work while giving the finger to Scooter and co. Even if these re-recordings sucked (they won't) I can't imagine I'd ever listen to the "originals" again knowing what a scumbag he is and what a boss Taylor is. She's putting her money where her mouth is and I find it admirable.
At the risk of sounding like a douche, I will say that listening to this on vinyl brought out details in the sound that I couldn't pick up via digital. I'm no audiophile, so this has only happened to me a few times in my life. Its nice.
My brain worms and I bought so much of her merch in the last few months that my bank just contacted me to ask if someone was committing fraud on my card/took it upon themselves to send me a new one just in case so thanks Taylor, now I have to redo all my recurring payments and it's all folklore's fault
I am admittedly not big on Fallon.... but even I have to admit this is kinda amazing. Tariq's Antonoff is amazing. Chris Martin's Vernon impersonation is kinda great also.
the rabid fans are at it again... if you listen, it sound like she sings "it's a love story, baby just SAID yes" in this version... and I can't argue it. now the internet think's she's engaged
I wouldn't be surprised if she's already been engaged a while and she just announces it after she's married already
Fair warning, if I get a full re-recorded Fearless next year, I will include it in my 2021 EOTY list.
vinyl arrived today. weird that the lyrics aren't cleanly divided by the two LPs and that the lyrics for invisible string are split across them
TS hot take alert: If track 5 is your favorite off an album it just means you’re basic. I’m well documented l, on this site, in my opinion of “All Too Well” being overrated by fans.
I didn’t realize there was a “thing” with her track 5s until Jack mentioned it on the folklore special. All You Had To Do Was Stay and All Too Well are both top 10ers discography-wide for me but don’t care much about the rest. Delicate is fine As far as them all being the first emotionally vulnerable songs on the record... I’m not seeing it
Yeah I don’t think the track 5 thing is real. All Too Well is incredible, Delicate kinda fits but even she wasn’t aware of it until The Archer. For sure most of those track 5s are great but you could easily say the same about like... track 3 or 9 too.
