Mine's been sitting since the 18th with just the label printed. Hopefully getting some movement this week
Watching the Disney+ special and my main takeaway is that someone should write a long and involved essay about Taylor Swift the vocalist-as-actress. Also, it is quite funny when you have a sense of who Aaron Desner is to watch his palpable discomfort during the more self-promotional commentary portions.
Alright. Never listened to a T Swift record, and was aware of this album being produced by Aaron. Also featuring JV, but held off due to so many other artists I’m familiar with releasing stuff at the time. Was really excited to check out the JV track esp. Again for whatever reason with all the other incredible albums this year I forgot to scope this. Put on the Pond sessions through D+ on a whim this morning. Yeah I’m very into this. Will definitely be adding this to my fall/winter rotation.
$13 signed folklore CDs right now the limited edition signed “in the trees” edition deluxe cd (U.S. customers only)
Apparently I'm a top 0.5% listener on spotify. Tbh I had phoebe bridgers so pegged as my aoty but this one came by surprise... Mostly because the album came by surprise in general. I haven't stopped listening since it came out
Also ngl for some reason I keep forgetting about Lover and keep thinking Reputation came directly before folklore. Maybe because the Lover era never got to feel complete with Covid sorta thwarting promo and the festivals
I wonder if she will do a big tour post-COVID now that folklore is out or she will just do Lover Fest.
Spotify said I'm a top 1% listener of Taylor Swift, which I'm kind of surprised about because even though I listen to her pretty much every day, I feel like there are so many hardcore fans that listen 24/7.
I would rather forget about Reputation than Lover, but that's neither here nor there. I watched the live performance last night. Made this album jump up a lot in my AOTY list to see it performed in full.
Alright! So now we know for sure she's doing the songs identical to the originals, which I honestly expected she'd do. I hope she slaps on some bonus tracks though of studio recordings of live versions and whatnot, but I'm not holding my breath. I'll scarf down whatever she cooks up.
That commercial is hilarious! Love Story sounds great, but also doesn't sound much different from the original. Makes me wonder what the point of these re-records are from a listener standpoint. On the Reputation tour she performed a pop version of Love Story that would've fit well on 1989. That's what I'm still hoping these re records will be, some sort of reimagining. Like self titled will be all pop versions and 1989 & Reputation will be all acoustic/stripped versions. I guess we'll see!
I think it's basically just so she has control over the music itself, like putting it in this commercial, up to her and not someone else.
Yeah it doesn't seem to me to need to be an artistic venture in any way. If she changes much, then people may still want to use the originals for various things.
