I like Me more than almost anything on Reputation. I don't even think it's the worst song on Lover. I like Brendon a lot though, lol.
Bad Blood, Ready For It, Sad Beautiful Tragic, I Did Something Bad, King of My Heart, a few more off Reputation. These are the ones I don't like at all. Ready For It has a great pre-chorus but I hate everything else about it.
I hate Brendon’s voice so much, so even if “ME!” was a passable song I probably wouldn’t like it. But it’s maybe her worst writing ever. I won’t stand for the “Sad, Beautiful, Tragic” slander though. That’s one of my favorites.
I adore Sad Beautiful Tragic so much I think I just lost the ability to read for a moment due to shock
London Boy, Bad Blood (album version, but the remix isn’t much better), Mad Woman, This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things are my bottom four. At least you can tell she’s having fun on LWTMMD and the I’m Too Sexy sample is crazy enough to work. Better Than Revenge is toward the bottom too, but I give it (probably too much) credit for reminding me of Riot era Paramore.
The Last Time is her worst recorded song, only because of Snow Patrol whiner. If it was solo I would be far more into it
I can't really think of a song by her I truly hate. I'm getting a real itch to listen to reputation. now. My least favorite is probably some deep cut off one of her first 3 just cus I'm not quite as well versed in some of those.
Me and Welcome to NY are the only songs of hers I can think of that I actively dislike or skip when they come on. Don’t love End Game but it’s fine I guess. Edit: Remembered London Boy is a thing. Also dislike that one.
ME! falls into the weird category of “not good, not bad” to me. It’s just there. I never really think about it and on the rare occasion I happen to hear it, it barely even registers, haha. So while I don’t like it, I’m having a hard time saying that I actually hate it. Look What You Made Me Do and I Did Something Bad are “least favorite” category toppers though. Welcome To New York and The Archer are up there too
“Look What You Made Me Do” does such a good job building this menacing tension in the verses and then just utterly fails to deliver any payoff or release in the chorus. It’s the musical equivalent of punting on third down. I do think you could actually make a good song out of that, though, which is more than I can say for “ME!” or like, “King or My Heart.”
I have rarely enjoyed listening to: "the lakes" "Gorgeous" "Bad Blood" I actively dislike listening to: "ME!" "I Did Something Bad" "Innocent" "Starlight" I'm ready for the hate
“Innocent” is a weird one. I love the melody, but the context/baggage around that song even then made it kind of awkward, and everything that’s happen since with Taylor and Kanye makes it difficult to judge on its own merits.
