i love lover. and reputation. i actually think 1989 is her worst record this side of the s/t bc while it has undeniable jams it’s also not as comfortable in its skin as either followup and hits several bad and obvious notes that don’t have the camp value of anything on reputation. (lover’s bad and obvious notes are also there but they are somewhat submerged by the sheer glut of tracks.) reputation made me somewhat fearful i’d never encounter Taylor The Good Lyricist again but over the years i’ve been more and more inclined to look at it in a positive light , especially now that lover, folklore, and evermore have come out. it’s fun, consistent, sonically bonkers, doesn’t really sound like any pop album that exists
Yup, and it's not close though part of that is just that Evermore is a better song overall. I don't think this a particularly out there thought, but it blows my mind how consistently good both new albums are with how much filler is on Reputation and Lover. I'd be a lot higher on Rep if the third of it I don't care for was as good as the worst stuff on here.
I thought we were done with the folklore and evermore are only good because of her collaborators narrative
She’s obviously insanely talented but I do think that for me personally, whether or not I like any given song/album by her tends to be pretty dependent on who she collaborates with. I think it’s more of a style preference than anything else.
BIG YES. I also reeeeeally love this part at the end "Cuz you never gave a warning sign (I gave so many signs)" we've all been there...
the BI community has been waiting on the fabled "89" for YEARS now and I really hope Taylor is on the final version replacing what used to be The Staves' part.. i would probably fall over dead
Yeah she said I think in that Apple Music clip that she specifically wrote lyrics that she thought he would write and with his voice in mind so that he would agree to sing on it.
exile gave us "SO STEP RIGHT OUT" and dionne (the japanese house x BI) gave us "STEP ON UP" good year for steps!
I’m just so happy that Taylor has realized that she can write amazing songs without having to be autobiographical. For me I knew it when she released “Death By a Thousand Cuts”. I’m so excited to see what she does in the future
it also is star of the best TikTok video of the year (ok I've only seen like, 3, but this is the best one) https://www.tiktok.com/@mackenziefrenzie/video/6854731696143666438
Jack just announced his annual Ally Coalition talent show and Big Red Machine is on there.. maybe Taylor will perform with them
