3 listens in and I think I prefer it to Folklore - Probably because it ends so strongly whereas Folklore ended on a real damp squib for me
whenever i hear dorothea i think of relient k lol. something about the way she delivers “if you’re ever tired of being known for who you know, you know, you can always know me” feels like matt thiessen and i really love that.
i wasn't sure about "dorothea" at first but i love its sway now. it also sounds like a major-key "cardigan"
Im into this, but i like the vibe of Folklore better. Folklore feels like a big departure from her typical sound and I really love it. Evermore feels like shes taking some of the sounds from Folklore, but moving back towards her past albums. I like it, but it feels more like a "normal" Taylor Swift album.
“You hang from my lips like the gardens of Babylon” might be my favorite single line she’s ever written. I kind of have tiers of songs right now. Top two are: Ivy Gold Rush Evermore Happiness Cowboy Like Me Long Story Short the only songs that aren’t really doing anything for me so far are: ‘tis the damn season Tolerate it Coney Island Also, even though it’s fun and catchy, I kinda think nbnc is actually a BAD song, but, like “london boy,” I don’t really care either.
“gold rush” is probably my least favorite. Sonically it’s cool, but it kind of just feels like a less interesting lyrical retread of “Lover.”
Im currently obssesed with evermore ft bon iver. At first i was thrown away by his falsetto and sudden entrance but then i got the weirdness that occurs when he appears is a part of why the song is so great. I remember loving exile instantly after hearing it, and how it managed to stay in my top 8 of folklore for months. I didnt think this will reach those levels or top it but it might..... Amazing song
Welcome! Glad you’re digging it. We love all (ALL) types of music here, definitely recommend searching for some threads about your favorite artists and joining/restarting The conversation.
My bottom tier of songs are only these, and I would relegate both to B-Sides if I had a say in sequencing: long story short no body, no crime
Most of the lyric videos for this album are whatever, but the one for “marjorie” is a total gut punch. How is her mom not just constantly crying when she hears Taylor’s music?
Holy Ground is my favorite T Swift song. Long Story Short feels like a retread of Speak Now/Red era. Feels a little like diminishing returns.
Don't hold me to this but: "Hoax" "New Year's Day" "Evermore" "Clean" "Long Live" "Begin Again" "Daylight" "Change" "Our Song"
I listened to this again and then a few stray songs in the car. Nothing is really hitting me, still. Need to sit with the lyrics and maybe an Old Fashioned later
