take it with a grain of salt but i've heard some things about a new single/group of singles at the very least coming very soon a comment from Jagjag on this post makes it seem pretty believable!
Haven’t caught up since around 12:30AM this morning but just heard this story on NPR. Taylor Swift donates to GoFundMe for Michigan mom facing eviction
One listen in and it didn't grab me quite like folklore did, but "ivy" and "long story short" are early favs.
i find it impossible to get through "happiness" without ugly-crying immediately strikes me as being "all too well"'s equal, if anybody can handle my truth
Parts of the melody on “Tis the Damn Season” reminds me of Sam Hunt’s “Breaking Up Was Easy in the 90’s”
I'm still digesting this like everyone else, but I'm really not into "champagne problems" which hurts the flow of the record for me as track number two. It's a fine song, but - and I can't place from exactly where - the melodies in that song sound recycled from earlier stuff from her. So it's hard to get into it as its own song, especially because the instrumentation is so sparse. Everything else so far is pretty great. Her lyrics are definitely firing on all cylinders. Not even touching folklore for me at the moment, tho
Marjorie hits pretty hard with my late grandmother, who passed a couple years ago, sharing the same name
I am too emotionally spent to listen to this again (until later today) but that first listen last night was stunning. And the willow video is beautiful. Definitely her best lyrical album, no contest.
Interested to hear what people think about “long story short.” At first I thought it was a cute, upbeat song. But going back and listening, I’m considering that it’s actually about a person that’s trapped in a cycle of bad relationships, manically convincing themselves that the most recent one is the right one? The “now I’m all about you” choruses only add to that. Maybe everyone else is already thinking this and I’m late to the party, but just thought I’d throw it out there.
This was my take on first listen as well. I think it’s a semi dark horse to emerge as THE ONE from the record.
Texted a friend on first listen that this felt like its sequel. Definitely felt like giving an older perspective on the same or a similar situation in the same way that most of the songs on Lover did
Listening through my second time Tolerate it, Happiness, Dorothea , Coney Island, Ivy, Cowboy Like Me. What a stretch of songs.
first two didn’t do much for me but gold rush is fun “my eagles t shirt hanging from the door” choosing to believe it’s the band and not the team
Lol I just deleted that from my library this morning, I was like there is no way I will never voluntarily put that on again why is it still here
Marjorie is unreal. Coney Island is terrific. Not as many songs are grabbing me like Folklore right away but I'm sure that will change in time. Def a winter album if Folklore is summer into fall.
Yes. This is how I feel. This is an album of deep cuts. It pulled all the feelings I have about my grandmother's passing three years ago back to the forefront.
