    Dunno what that means.

In reference to the posts that are talking about how this celebrity drama isn't worth discussion-- i'd just like to say that it is certainly a massive relief to be talking about something as stupid and silly as this during what could have been the most distressing three weeks in national and international news in ages. This is a welcome change in conversation even if it's a minor distraction. Sure there is some problematic shit with this whole thjng-- but thankfully i can find the humor in the ridiculousness of it all to enjoy it

I dont think Taylor knows how this whole thing works, she just doesnt understand.
Everyone knows if a rapper makes a diss track about you you're supposed to make a diss track right back, or everyone will think you're lame.

    Man, shes such a noob

Said it earlier in the thread but it's worth mentioning again. Kim K was in on the sex tape, there was no leak or anything and it wasnt released without her approval. She signed a contract with vivid for them to sell the video. Her claiming otherwise is a lie to fit her own narrative. It worked out well for all parties. But her trying to play the victim to rise to fame when there are so many real victims that deal with leaked personal shit that ruins their lives and dont make money or empires from it is so irritating.

KW: Here's my song that mentions Taylor Swift being famous because of me.
TS: Hey, I don't like that song or what it says about me. I told him not to release that.
KW: I played it for her
KKW: Yeah, he played it for her.
TS: We talked on the phone about it, but I didn't approve anything
*Video of polite phone conversation gets released by KKW*
    KKW: SEE
    TS: Still didn't approve it.

    I think that's it, right?

imagine rappers always called people they were about to say inappropriate things about in their songs to ask for permission, dating back to the 80s and the beginning of gangster rap?

we should start a choose-your-own adventure discussion to see how things would've been different.

edit: tried to embed the tweet of kanye mentioning rap being watered down and missing the dmx days, but i failed because internets

literally everyone involved in this looks bad, there are no winners. Kanye wrote something gross, Taylor lied (or at least heavily twisted the truth), and Kim posted an illegally recorded conversation.

I have so many thoughts about this whole thing. It's actually a very messy and nuanced situation.
I too enjoy having a laugh at the surface of it but the truth is that it actually runs pretty deep.

Whether you want to admit it or not there is a lot of shit surrounding this culturally like racism and sexism and white-feminism. It goes way deeper than most people want to acknowledge.

Frankly I have always felt that Taylor was a snake in the grass type and I am happy someone is bringing the receipts to prove it. She disses people in her tracks all.the.time. and speaks horribly of them so I'm not sure why she acts like it's such a big deal that she was humiliated by his lyrics. I'm sure Camilla belle was also humiliated when Taylor saying that she was "better known for the things that she does on the mattress" just saying. - And honestly, I am a fan of Taylor's music and would even call myself a fan of her. I will defend her often but I do feel strongly that the innocent persona she curates is just that- completely curated.

I'm not saying that it was right for Kanye to say the things he said, but Taylor also said "you have to tell the story how it happened to YOU. If you hadn't heard of me before that, even though I sold 7m records, then that's what happened" And so that's what he did he said "I made her famous" because in his eyes that's what happened. But then she didn't like that. So basically "tell the story how it happened to YOU, until it's not okay anymore" Idk the whole thing is very strange to me.

I also feel it was wrong to tape the conversation without her knowledge but I do wonder how they could have put it in the show (did they? I didn't watch) without her permission.
Likewise I feel like they would speak with their lawyers heavily before releasing the tape. Or maybe they figure a lawsuit would actually look bad on Taylor at this point (to most of the public, judging by how people are reacting to this)

Also to the person above repeatedly stating that Kim had a hand in selling the sex tape, could you provide proof of that? Pretty bold statement to make continuously without offering any kind of proof.
I know that she filed a suit against them and then settled out of court, I don't know how she would be able to do that if she had sold it to begin with, no?

The lawsuit was all part of it to help her into the role of the victim. Kim wanted to be a superstar and a sex tape was a way to get there, like it had worked for Paris Hilton. However, if the story was "i made a porn to be a super star" then people wouldnt be as sympathetic. But if you are able to change the narrative to "I was the victim of a stolen sex tape" then it could work. A company cant just receive stolen property and then sell it. They have to receive consent and enter into a contract to be able to sell it. Think about it like this, Blink-182 records an album and someone steals it and hands it over to a record label. Then the record label starts selling it and makes a bunch of money. This is clearly not legal. The only way for the record label to be able to sell it is to enter into a contract with Blink first and get them to release the rights. Kim and RayJ entered into a contract with Vivid to sell it, but she still wanted to be able to claim it was stolen or released without her consent... that is a lie. If she wanted to stop the tape from being sold she easily could have. But from what i remember Vivid paid her 5 million and she blew up and became who she is today. You can google it for more info, the kardashian family is smart and cunning and know exactly what they are doing i gotta give them credit there. Farrah Abraham tried claiming the same thing with her sex tape but but she's an idiot and everyone saw right through it.

Plenty of real victims are out there where a partner or someone they had a sex tape with or whatever just uploads it to the internet for whatever reason. There is no contract, there is no money. The person doing it was just a complete piece of shit. But that isnt what happened with Kim.

tbh I don't feel bad for anyone Taylor has written a song about except Camilla Belle. That song was bs and Taylor never apologized legitimately. And she may have been 18 when she wrote it (which is still old enough to know you're being mean af) but she was 21 when that album came out and old enough to know better. bye. Like I'm glad Taylor seems to have learned it was wrong but I totally get Camilla being annoyed and bitter still.

I didn't even know about the Camilla thing, and I thought I was tired of T Swift's shady brand of feminism before.

  20. I'd agree with this. I'd still be pissed if I was Camilla. She doesn't play the song live and it'd be gross even if nobody knew who it was about (same way I feel about Misery Business), but an apology wouldn't have been remiss. And somehow I doubt that ever happened privately (since we know it didn't happen publicly).

That said, I'm pretty sure I wasn't woke enough in my pettiness at 21 to have known better (different people get there in different ways and at all kinds of different times), but with the feminism stuff she talks about she sure as hell knows better now.

    The rest of them... nah.

To Taylor's credit she wasn't a feminist back then. She actually said she wasn't a feminist because she didn't believe in men vs. women. She didn't start talking about feminism until around 1989 after Lena Dunham (lol) taught her about it

I find it ironic that Misery Business is the song where Hayley picks out someone from the audience (usually a girl) to sing on stage with her.

The environment when Taylor was 21 imo makes it so she doesn't really get a pass age-wise. Maybe if it was a micro-aggression or a subtle thing but slut-shaming was a really well known term and she pretty much got dragged immediately for those lyrics (at least by pop culture sites I frequented). To me it's not like writing that song in 2000 when there was less social media and awareness. For the time and her age I think she should've known with a transgression that big, but that just my opinion. I don't expect anyone's feminism to be perfect at any age, but that was a pretty big deal. I guess I hold ppl my age to higher awareness standards. Either way I'm glad she grew and learned, but yeah I doubt she apologized to Camilla cause yesterday Camilla posted a shady quote on her insta lol

ok I'm done editing I hope

  24. Nobody is trying to give her a pass, I'm just trying to make a point in my life as an adult to not hold folks whose brains aren't even fully developed yet to standards I know my silly ass couldn't have met at the same point in my life. It was a bad look and she was in the wrong, there's no way around that.

  25. I know it was their breakout hit but I really wish they wouldn't perform it live anymore. I used to love that song when I still thought it was okay to talk like that but I always skip it now because that line and the whole premise of the song sits so badly with me.
