No need for the sarcasm quotes; it is a new version. Besides, shouldn't you be swindling high school kids into joining the army right now?

agreed. Glad she is owning her own music, but not a new version in any other way

This. I pre-ordered the Vinyl yesterday (at 50 bucks after shipping) and now I'm rather unhappy if everything new, is this similar.

This the whole point though, right? This "new" version is supposed to sound like the old version. The goal is that you should listen to the new version going forward and not ever want or need to listen to the "old" version. I'm glad that I can now listen to this version and I won't miss the old version at all. Think of it like this: The new version is Taylor's version, the old version is Scooter's.

y'all missed that the point was so she could license out these version of the songs without giving money to Scooter Braun and Scott Borchetta apparently.

I didn't miss the point I just thought she would have changed it up a little bit. I wouldnt have spent 50 bucks on something so similar when I already have Fearless on vinyl. She doesnt need 50 bucks from me, I however do as I'm still hurting from the pandemic.

Your words suggest you very much DID miss the point. The entire point was to replicate the old ones exactly. But with her owning the masters. This was very explicitly the point.

It was never advertised as fresh takes on old albums. She is re-recording the albums to take ownership of her music. Though I think this version sounds great. Updated vocals and production, but still classic and comforting like a warm blanket. Plus it comes with some new unreleased songs. And I bet she’ll through in some curveballs with some of the lesser known songs.

It's funny how much real estate I have in your mind.

I actually had two HS enlist this week.

Perfect balance of old and new for me - especially given the reason for the re-record. With so many fans, changing minutiae could effectively remove someone’s favourite part of the song. She’s struck it well

  17. And for the record: there are quite a few differences between the old and the new. It just takes a much more intentional ear (and deep familiarity with the original) to hear them I guess.

    Ah, yes... the troll...

Hilarious how you think we're bad, when Canada will allow someone as young as 16 years old to join, and then allow someone as old as 57 to join to try and better themselves/give them a career. Bravo, thanks for giving me free rent in your head too along with dozens other here.

Her team is the gold standard when it comes to marketing in pop music. They know something as little as a different color vinyl, 1 bonus track, or a different cover will cause her fans to purchase an additional unit.

Good for her getting her rights back to her music! But her team making such a big deal out of this to the consumer is kind of gross. Please spend your discretionary pandemic income on a record you already own, alrighty Taylor!

Love this new version. Everything I love about the original, but sung & recorded a bit better, with the implied subtext of a Taylor in her 30s revisiting this song (which, as someone in my 30s who's been a fan for quite a while, really speaks to me).

"Fearless" & "The Best Day" are gonna rule.

Other places being bad in their own ways has no bearing on our problems here in America.

And, this old "free rent" expression you keep mentioning is so goofy in this context, lol. Kinda doubt everyone who dunks on you is thinking about you nonstop. A better analogy for you is probably a tactless neighbor (like Kimmy Gibbler, except she's funny).

I mean, she didn't really ask anyone to spend their discretionary pandemic income on this if they can't afford it. She knows she has a lot of fans who'd be excited for this (and are) & who can afford it, who either didn't have it yet or are for whatever reasons willing to double dip.

If you actually spent money on this you wish you could get back... sorry? I've been there, too. If you can't cancel your order, at least you'll probably be able to sell either this or the old Fearless?
