Guess so...just strongly dislike her and what she represents. There's certain artists that cant be discussed on here with opinions on both sides with you, but alas, its your site, and I appreciate the ability to discuss on here.
I mean, there's opinions, and then there's shit like .... "I hope he buries her." One, I have no problem with, the other, I think is fucked up.
I really don't like this. Literally not one redeeming feature. I know lyrics don't matter in pop music (or any music depending on your feelings!) but I feel like so many of her songs have the worst lyrics I've ever heard.
Sorry if the bury comment was offensive. I guess I should've just said I hope he makes a scathing, response track?
Been a very casual T Swift fan since the start but this is somewhere between mediocre and outright bad
I really like this song. I don't know any Taylor Swift outside of her singles, but this one has me interested in hearing the new album. In all honesty, I'll probably still not check the album out....but I'll definitely keep the station on when I hear this on the radio.
T swift isn't going anywhere, but with that said this might be the worst song I've ever heard from her.
The bridge part kinda sounds like they took a hint from Lorde which I dig. Ngl I don't like the "sorry the old taylor can't come to the phone right now" part. cringed a little.
I think the voicemail is typical Taylor cringe, like the Apple Music commercial, the spoken word in We're Never Ever Etc, "excluded from this narrative..." basically all the annoying things she's done lol but that said, I can see this dominating pop radio. Taylor fans like it, it'll grow on people who are in between and people who don't like it probably wouldn't have anyway (that's me, hi)
People like some spicy cringe. adds ~character~. As someone who doesn't listen to much pop I've always enjoyed Taylor's stuff. Never cared for any of the celeb drama convos surrounding her though, normally turns ugly real fast.
Which is exactly what I don't get with how popular she is. The corniness plus the way I feel she's used her status as a white woman to play the victim...her entire image is so off-putting to me. And I've never met a fan of hers, so I'm like where are these numbers coming from?? lol
Comparison might seem weird but I thought the Front Bottoms were super cheesy but it works sometimes, I mean they’re pretty big now.
I like her music a lot for the most part but I've never liked her public persona. I think it comes down to her appearing super relatable. She seems genuinely warm and lovely when she meets people. She does a lot for her fans too. She said someone once told her "if you meet 1000 fans you'll sell 1000 albums" or something like that and I think she has really ran with that and has developed a super dedicated legion of fans. Her personal diary-style of writing resonates so deeply with some people too. Like i see it and I get it, but she personally annoys me usually. But most celebs do cause I follow them so that's my fault haha.
Yeah that makes sense, I've seen how dedicated her fanbase is online and she definitely takes a more personal approach to interacting with fans than most pop stars do. I can dig that.
Yeah I do agree with you with her image tho. Like I do think she takes advantage of some racist narratives for her benefit like not overtly but in a subtle way that makes me iffy.
I like the pre-chorus and it feels like it's going to build.. then the chorus is too repetitive and boring for my taste. I sorta hope she's like 'gotcha!' and then releases an album of pure pop with the 80s vibes like her last stuff.
