Recently rewatched Mare, while both are great, I think I enjoyed Task a bit more. The humanity and empathy shown in the last couple episodes just put it over the top. I would run through a wall for agent tom brandis.
My wife also loved both. We watched Mare together and then I did Task besvshe she wasn’t too interested while it was airing but convinced her a few months back and she liked it
I just made the random connection while listening to TWY this morning that the run down Philly outer suburbs setting of these shows is what Dan was describing in Suburbia and The Upsides. Makes so much sense.
I thought Mare was Chester County and not technically Delco? It's all the greater Philly metro area, the vibe still fits.
they're all close to each other and many similarities but slight cultural and economic differences. if you ask anyone not based here, they probs would tell you it's all philly but nobody here would ever admit that lolz. when you get into DEEP Delco vs outer Delco, there's that working class grittiness that Mare and Task are most likely trying to portray--whereas Chester Co is "nicer"
I’d say Lansdale, specifically the North Penn area where TWY guys went to school, is nicer than most parts of Delco/Chester county as they are depicted here. Delco is weird because parts of the Main Line, one of the richest areas around here, are Delco, but you also get a lot of working class, Northeast Philly esque parts. Definitely different vibes. If I can get a little bit offensive, the Lansdale area gets more Trumpy/Hicky while Delco and Chester are more run down, “trashy”…if you will. I am allowed to say trashy because I live in Northeast Philadelphia.
Chester County is also huge. I don’t know it that well but the Longwood Gardens/Kennett Square are is nice. There’s also Chester City in Delco which is not nice
Kennett/Longwood are fantastic. Chester (city) is a poop-hole. Still can't believe they put the Union (MLS) there.
Yeah there’s a lot of overlap between eastern Chester county and Delco. My moms side of the family is from Pheonixville (where they shot a lot of Mare) and it’s technically in Chester co but it’s a Delco town through and through imo (or at least used to be…these days the downtown area at least has seen a revival and it’s actually gotten somewhat expensive to live there now lol)
