I think I’ve read/heard that kevin doesn’t like playing songs live until they’ve been released, so it doesn’t surprise me much.

 

I vaguely remember hearing that at some point, but then he played Borderline on SNL so idk anymore!

 

They got two songs and I guess he was OK playing that since it was gonna be the next single?

not at all related but i think "borderline" is my favorite song so far this year and the backlash/some lukewarm opinions on it are baffling to me.

I don't feel like the singles were meant to be smash hits, but yes it's odd that we haven't heard about the album in a long time

 

I dunno. Obviously I have no info, but between SNL + headlining Coachella, I think Kevin (or the label, or both) was aiming for a big breakthrough.

 

Kevin said in that interview a while back that he didn't want to rush the album to meet arbitrary deadlines like Coachella or anything, so I wouldn't be surprised if he used Patience and Borderlines as two finished singles just to put out new music and still isn't finished with the album.

I’ve been very into this band lately. Is Currents their most loved? Cuz I thought there was no way Lonerism could be topped, but damn does Currents sound so fucking sleek.

 

Currents is a top ten album of the decade for me imo

 

Same for me. Definitely the album from Tame Impala I return to the most nowadays.
