heard “patience” today and it reminded me how much better that song is than anything we got on the actual album
"Patience" is def the best post-Currents track. I was just thinking the other day how disappointing I find this record in retrospect. Thing sounds great and I don't think it's bad, but I'd probably call it solid at best right now and it doesn't stand up to any of his other records. I'm due to revisit it though.
right. it’s not an awful record by any means. but considering his previous three were all in my top 50 or so of last decade, and it’ll be difficult to fit this in my top 20 of this year alone, it’s hard to not feel more than a little disappointed by it.
I think this record is okay. I prefer Currents and this is low on my AOTY list, but it has some solid tracks on it.
I still enjoy this album/any songs from it that come up in my shuffle, though I feel like Currents was always going to be an impossible record to follow up without disappointing anyone especially after 5 years and tons of hype. edit: spelling
In February when it dropped I was ready to call it AOTY, but it has slowly dropped out of my top 10. Mostly speaks to how strong of a music year this has been, as well as how much new music I've sought out because of the pandemic. I still love this album though.
I really love this album. It’s not currents levels but it’s still really good and lots of catchiness imo
this album is probably the "worst" tame impala album, sure, whatever its like an 8.5 when the other three are all 9+, its still a great record. and judging albums by where they will or wont fall on an album of the year list feels extremely arbitrary and useless to me, in general thats just a bad way to think of art and connect with it
